Now that Huntress is back in birds of prey, will
she be or might make an appearance in cat tails?
Personally, i think she would be the perfect person for
Spoiler to latch on to cause the huntress has been though
the crap that spoiler is going through now IE being
rejected by Bats and going through a crap relationship
that won't last, with one of his boys.

eh you know what i mean, the relationship before
and the effect of the aftermath after. OR just basicly
the resentment that it generated and the feeling of being
kick to the curb.

Gotta go along with Nam on the one-nighter
issue.
Anyway, Huntress's status in BoP doesn't really affect the Tales in anyway, but questions such as this may. As I've explained elsewhere, a character appears or not, at length or not, depending on if they have a spark. If there is something that makes them alive in my head in relation to the others. Helena really hasn't, on the whole. However the respect issue (or lack thereof) may indeed give her some common ground with one of our cast who we will be seeing more of in the next installment. Not one in the inner circle, however. H pretty much slit her throat there with the 'Wing affair. 1. Dick and Barbara are married now, and Helena is one of the things they've mutually agreed 'never happened' - water under the bridge, we don't speak about it because we never think about it. That is simple as long as she's not around. But if she is part of the team, her presence becomes a regular and awkward reminder of what 'never happened' All of a sudden they aren't not speaking about it because they never think about it, but instead, they're not talking about it because they ARE thinking about it. 2. Dick is a pretty smart kid, and I'm sure he's realized by now that the big attraction for H was that he was a way inside the bat-family. Not to mention, having dealt with his own Bruce-acceptance issues over which they bonded at that time, he would shun any reminder of a part of himself he's grown beyond that way. 3. If #2, Helena's motivation in the affair, hasn't occured to him, it has certainly occured to Bruce. If B wouldn't accept her when she was simply a Loose Cannon, imagine how his objections are magnified now that she is a Loose Cannon who tried to use his boy. Plus - estrogen solidarity being what it is between Selina & Barbara - shudder - you just don't want to go there unless there is a half million in somebody else's jewels to be recovered. Stay tuned. |

I have a question. Didn't Huntress give up the
cape?
And why is Huntress 'Bony-ass' given the artists proclivities to make all female hotties? |

As of the latest Hush she seems very much in the
mix still. So she hasn't given it up in the main
title.
Now I'm not sure what you mean by "the artists proclivities to make all female hotties" but if it means what I think it means, you're going to find the next Cat Tale: WOMEN LACKING COMPLEXITY very interesting. |

Actually, this brings to mind an interesting point.
Robert Heinlein wrote that all women are beautiful, but
sometimes it takes longer to realize it. Or words to that
effect.
Given that the women of gotham have such strong personalities, would this not show through with their sense of style and class? |

Re: Huntress | #9 | ||

A truly insightful observation, Nam. I don't, as
some might assert, think Heinlein was sucking up, nor are
you. There is
something inherently beautiful, and indeed inherently
sexy, in being ALIVE. The way so many of the ladies of
Gotham - and more than a few of the men - are so
completely of
themselves, and
of the moment - there is a pure intensity to their
personalities that IS quite wonderful to simply be near,
to observe, and if we're open to it, to absorb a little
of that hyperliving to add spice and color to our own
existence.
That is all true, when the characters are allowed to BE what they are. When a writer is secure enough to let go and give them reign, those strong personalities shine thru in all their glory, and we all devour those issues and save them and reread them. We remember those arcs and those interpretations and hold on to them because they are hooked into that something that makes the food taste better and the air smell sweeter. That IMO is what separates the guys writing popular comics from the ones who can't give away their drivel on free-comic day. It isn't a formula or window dressing, it is letting that connection to life, that "joy" into the process. If you're trying to make a name for yourself by "redefining" (*cough*Montoya*cough*) read: artificially imposing your agenda for shock value, then the beauty that IS inherent in those strong personalities won't show thru. And you wind up with pissed off readers. unfortunately, they seldom know WHY they're pissed, so what happens is they guess and they complain in those terms and if we're really unlucky DC takes their complaints at face value, and we wind up with Pirate Arthur and Lesbian Montoya and Butch-Harley and "Complex" Diana. I honestly don't know what the solution is, other than sending them all to a character acting workshop. |

Exactly, Nam. I won't go into details as I haven't
