For whatever it's worth, I posted this topic on the
DCMB. This is my initial post so if you agree and are
interested, please consider supporting me. (Oh, and OF
COURSE. I love Chris Dee's Batman, but I didn't think the
be-knighted souls over there would get that.)
Is it time for a reworked origin of Batman along the lines of what Birthright is doing for the Superman books?
I know this topic has been addressed before, but I'm hoping to give it a slightly different perspective. I adore Batman! He's far and away my favorite comic book character. I loved the Pre-Crisis Batman, the BTAS Batman, Jeph Loeb's Batman, Anderson Gabrych's Batman, but I'm not crazy about the Frank Miller Batman.
I recently went back to look at Year One and was very disappointed. Where were all the good parts everybody's always talking about?
I think it's time for an inclucive origin of Batman that everyone who loves Batman can identify with. I know that the Byrne purists have given birth to enough live bulls to start their own methane plant and I'll probably get the same reception here. Frankly, I started reading Birthright because I'm still holding a grudge over MOS 3 and because I loved the Kingdom Come Batman, too, even though I profoundly disagreed over who the mother of Bruce's child should be. (batman) (classiccatwoman) (grin)
Nomex is the name of that flame-proof material he puts in the Bat costume, right?
