I see it all now! Joker's true origin is very simple and has nothing to do with the usual Red Hood-chemicals-insanity tale.

...He's a Bizzaro!

Think about it: white skin, utterly twisted thought processes -- the "man" is a Bizzaro, I tell you! Why else would seeing a film that made him wonder if Harley was not faking orgasm bother him so much? That's Bizzaro logic if ever I heard it!

The question is, what is he a Bizzaro copy of? Given Joker's predilection for killing, the original subject was probably a life-guard or a doctor -- or even a cop?

But, all speculation aside, this is good stuff, Chris. Brilliantly twisted on Joker's side, and a delightful example of Bruce and Selina managing to co-operate almost in spite of themselves. Neither of them really has much clue about the precise inner workings of the other's mind and psyche, but... vive la difference!

And it was nice to see Dick and Babs there, too -- though Dick had better watch himself: too many quips like that one about how handy Selina is to have around to pass on "bad" news could get him an intimate acquaintance with Catwoman's claws... or whip... or even just her temper, which ranks up there with other irresistable forces of nature...!

And I hope Tim enjoys his month with Cecily -- though what Steph might have to say on that subject remains to be seen. I was surprised, though, that Selina made such a basic mistake regarding Tim's nervousness in respect of being a deb escort: it's not that he necessarily objects to being sought after as a date, it's that the sheer number of "hunters" he encountered in a short space of time is enough to unnerve anyone! Had it been only one or two girls suddenly showing interest, he'd have been less likely to feel paranoid; frankly, someone -- read Bruce, Dick, Jack Drake or Alfred ought to have warned the kid some time earlier.

But, once made wary, the natural response is to attempt to reduce exposure, as it were, which is what Bruce's advice was for. Selina makes a valid point that Tim is trying to avoid something that he ought to enjoy, and she gets him to re-evaluate the situation. Perhaps it's a shame that no-one ever gave Bruce (and Dick) the same treatment when it was their respective turns in the spotlight, because it seems to have generated a self-perpetuating generational feedback loop.

Oh, well, now there's Cat-Tale #27 to look forward to, and the interesting question of who is the ally referred to in the "Coming Attraction" blurb... As ever, I await it with keen anticipation.

...which is why I am more and more inclined to think that, for all his impeccability (is that a word? ), Alfred is the one who messed up here; he, of all people, ought to have warned Tim before the stalking started...

Feel free -- although, the more I look at it, the more I am convinced that it needs something to properly convey what I was trying to get across; perhaps I should have put "inter-generational" or "multi-generational" rather than the word by itself... but what the heck! Use any variation on the theme you feel appropriate.
