Poor Harvey. This sidekick thing is so difficult to
make work.
Do Aliki and Margot Marceau (a.k.a. "Double Dare") really exist? Or was that more Postism? They'd make a cute pair of assistants for Two-Face (and they have some slight level of competency, too, which helps loads). The Gotham Gazette has a picture of them on the front page of Issue #33, so I figure their existence is already questionable. I didn't giggle as often or as hysterically in this chapter as I had in previous chapters. Too busy howling in frustration after:
Yeah, he is getting good at this. Yes, admitted relationship and all, the Bat is still a tease. Meanwhile, if Greg doesn't wind up getting all his new henchmen jailed, and yet successfully accomplishes a few DEMON assignments, I can sense that neither Gotham nor DEMON itself will ever be the same. How do you think I feel, darlin. Anyway, as for Double Dare, I'm sure if Harvey & Darth had anything like that in their past, we'd have heard about it by now. And heard about it. And heard about it. And heard about it again. We must assume that, like a true Gothamite, Harv doesn't pay much attention to what goes on outside the city limits. Now if those ladies ever tire of the minors and try giving the bigtime a try in Gotham... my oh my oh my, that could be |

Ivy and . . . unnhhhh. Not the most appalling
matchmaking notion in the world (that would be Selina and
Hugo Strange - don't yell at me, you thought of it first,
Chris), but very, very upsetting. Thanks for the
dust-off, Chris.

Quote: I had no idea there was an actress with such a name As for why Cecily (thank you for telling me the correct spelling As I said before, I am a supporter of Tim/Stephie relationship. Sure, the much-despised Spoiler has issues, even by Community standards. But so does Tim (at least, in DCU-MHR*). I think that Tim and Stephie balance each other out. Crucify me if you must for the statement I am about to type, but I think those two share something. Chemistry, if you must. To put it plainly, Cecily is not Stephie. Also, I think that ultimately, Tim is better off with someone who knows his secret identity (Just ask Wally and Clark). I could go as far as to say that Tim is better off with someone from the Community, someone who can truly understand and relate to what he is going through, but Wally and Clark might have an issue with that one. Quote: I don't think "B" could handle it no matter what his charges' romantic situation is. Let me sum up my thoughts on the entire issue: There is Linda Park and there is Terry Long. Fair enough, PA. I think you can take some comfort
from the fact that, unlike Wally & Clark, Tim is
still a kid and FAR from hooking up with anyone permanently.
Also as a teenager, he is exploring the different roles in his life, and while Spoiler certainly fit into his Robin life, Cecily is a bit more suitable to his prep school/Ivy-bound/son of Jack Drake life. With college and a major his life will change again and there will certainly be more experimenting. He may indeed find, as others have, that the kind of bond shared by those who do the rooftop/spandex thing supercedes any other. Or he may, as others have, find a special person from the "normal world" and let her in on the secret. However it ends, it is certain to be a wild and fascinating ride. “Do you, Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle promise to forsake all others and reserve your warped, angst-ridden, dysfunctional nincompoopery for each other, thereby saving at least two innocent people and providing untold hours of fascinated diversion to the rest of us who might otherwise think WE have screwed up relationships!” --Dick Grayson in a moment of clarity |

The concluding chapter: X-Factor has now been propped. At FanFiction.net and the Cat Tales site I hope everybody enjoyed reading this installment as much as I enjoyd writing it. I am curious about something. Everyone knows that
Batman is a strategist. We also know that he attemptes to
prevent what happened to him from happening to
others.
That leads me to a line of thought... Harvey, if you would vet the following... 1> There are three broad categories of criminals They have no other choice, They do it for the thrill or feeling of superiority, that is what they are good at. Joker and Two-face are Category 1 Selina is category 2 Still with me? Those who have no choice may do it out of a compulsion, or out of economic need, or perhaps because they are unable to stop themselves. Does Bruce ever do anything to assist those he meet at night who did it out of financial need? I.e. they would get a job if they could, but they can't? Greg Brady, as described, is intelligent enough to adapt. He is wise enough to stay alive with the Joker. He is skilled enough so that Batman remembers fighting him. What if he starts working for Bruce Wayne? If Bruce's objections are that Greg is a criminal, then if he takes a chance to go legit, he might do well. Which means that he might not mind if Cassie sees him, thus letting her get this out of her system. Thoughts? |

Re: Cat Tales 30: Splitzville | #131

I dont really think that batman hammered the
message into either of them, because they're very well
schooled in the art of selective hearing.
If common sense got through to Greg brady, then he never would have worked for Joker, and even if he had, he'd never hang around past the first beating. Greg knew when to say uncle, but he wasnt backing out of the Chinatown thing, he was surreduring to the superior fighter. He's fought the Bat before after all. I'm betting his ego will be boosted by the fact that it was a closer fight than usual. First he gets a job, no doubt well paid by Ra's, and in the same week he gets a bunch of slavishly loyal men, and he puts the Batman on the ground, albiet for a moment. This is a big week for him! Now then, Batman's message to Ra's was hillarious, sharp tounged and painfully accurate. Batman's figured out that the only way to talk to Ra's is in this own language, which, while technically still english, requires a little more thought, because in Ra's world, anybody who uses one word where they could have used thirty just isnt trying. But while the words would have gotten through to Ra's, the message most certaintly would not have. That, after all is the key psychological component of the entire matter: The Demonhead would have to admit he made a mistake. The sun does not set in the east, Scully does not believe Mulder, the Cubs do not win the world series, and the Demon head does not admit self fault. These are the sacred truths. These are facts. So what will Greg brady do? Just dust himself off, go back inside and order more chicken? I bet the troop of agents in the shop would have been straining to see the fight. I am ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that those boys across the street who spotted the batmobile were watching with bated breath. "He knocked down 'He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!' Who is this new leader in our midst?" Frankly Bats, by confronting him personally, you admitted that he was worth more than Ulstarn. By challenging to single combat you admitted his skill as a fighter, by getting knocked down once you elevated him to the status of a deity among those guys in the shop. And it wont amount to that much, because the true Gotham X factor is not the something that makes them put on masks, its the unique psychological makeup that prevents them from having the facts beaten into their skulls. And BG will be back to that spot in Chinatown soon enough. Crimes happen there after all. An Arkham Tale? Is this gonna be a story set entirely in Arkham? Pam: Harley? What are you doing back here so fast? Harl: Hiya Red. It wasnt planned. I was doing a job with Twofers and it went bust. Pam: #Long Deathly Silence# You were doing a job with Who? Harl: U-u-uhh, Twofers? Pam: #Long Deathly Silence, and is that Lemon Pledge I smell?# Harl: Poison Oak again? Hugo: #Shouting from cell across the hall.# If you and Two Face are trading girlfriends Jack, then I owe Jervis five dollars! Joker: #Also across the hall# HAHAHAHAHAAAAA! Green Flu callers reach all new highs. This is gonna be interesting. |

About Nutmeg and Whiskers | #133
|
K...Nae here. My mom is a major cat person. So I
knew she'd love the entire story arc where Whiskers and
Nutmeg explored the Wayne Manor, and I had to get her to
read it. Of course she loved it. So here are her
thoughts:
Yes, being a cat lover, I really loved the story. I could just imagine the two felines exploring their new home, and as one who has moved too many times, myself, I could relate them not being too eager to be glad to be there. And it really hit a soft spot when Nutmeg worked to get Standing Soft Paws' affection! NaeNae's Mom. |

If you like that scene, I'm sure you'ld just love the book the author's note references: The Silent Miaow. It's out-of-print but if your library has it or you ever stumble on a copy in an old bookstore, GRAB IT, a perfect kotteb's (kitten's they can't type so well) view of the world. |
