Okay, lets take it down.
Defcon4. Say it soft and it’s almost like praying. Heh. That's one way of putting it. See Selina? He hasnt changed that much. Giggles! I didnt see that one coming! I overlooked him because he's not a rogue per se. He could always identify himself as Bradyman, like Joker said. Ya think? Quote: "His daughter! METROPOLIS. Endquote Two chapters ago, Chris wrote: "One of you, not saying who or if here at FFnet, has certainly come close to a plotpoint, and one of you, also not saying who or where, has given me a SPLENDID idea!" Well, Jarissa seems it was both of us. Kinda makes you proud doesnt it! Moving right along... Giggles has been summoned. If he takes this job, then it's going to be interesting soon. Giggles will be in the throne room, BG, if she still has a thing for him (IF being the operative word) will not know what to do when Bats calls in the entire Clan for the fight. (Again, I stress IF she has a thing for him still.) The singing telegram. Let's have them do a little tapdance next time too! If the messenger who gave Jason/catty the message had the same message as 2Face got...And I'd bet good money that he did, Ra's seems the type to give out form letters... then it means Selina doesnt know WHY she's being called yet. When she does find out....Oh I just cant wait to see that. But seriously, Ra's couldnt possibly be that stupid could he? He knows the connection between Catty and 'The Detective' so why would he even let her in the door? Cause, Ra's has to know that the moment she walks into the room, one of three things will happen. 1) Selina will see the picture of Talia, and laugh, turn on her heel, and march out. 2) Ra's will see her walk in, and freak out. "NOW THEY BRING ME THE BATMAN'S WOMAN! AS IF JOKER'S WAS NOT ENOUGH!" 3) Selina will just start to talk when Batman will blow the door and the fight immediately starts. Incidentally Ra's, if you want to make Bruce look at Talia again, (For the brief instant before Selina kills them both that is) you should mention that bit about your wedding present being Joker's head on a platter. (I'd garruntee it'll at least give him a moment's pause.) Anyway, when Bats meets Greg Brady (Heh) in battle, he'll wake up to the fact that BG on the monitor is Batgirl, and start demanding answers. (GB and BG sittin' in a tree...) Will 2face even show up? 2o'clock or not, Harv's got more important things to do. Like print up some T-shirts. Bruce was right. Ra's knows where all Bruce's buttons are. Bad bad thing that, and if it becomes desperate, he'll have Selina within arms reach. Not a good thought. What is the history between Ra's and Jason? Were they allies once? Ra's doesnt seem the type to accept the presence of another immortal in his planet. if he cant kill him, he'll try to make Jason join him, except that would have happened 800 years ago, and no doubt Ra's failed. Jason doesnt seemed thrilled at the prospect. Not thrilled enough with Ra's to actually join the fight? Depends how personal it is. #Seeing a brief image of Jason walking in and Ra's screaming "YOU!" just before Etrigran does his thing.# Seriously though Ra's, I would reconsider sending Ulcer to Talia. You'd just be exchanging the super formal headache for Talia's own special brand of headache. This is the woman who sent you a memo regarding her requirements for being tied up after all. #Brief image of Ra's getting a phone call: "Daaaaadddy! Why'd you send me this guy?" What will happen next? Cant wait to find out. |

Pity she's not around to speak for herself, but I think I can say with some authority that Lady Shiva has... better things to do with her time than that... *examines ceiling, whistles, turns back to thread* Oh, a marvelous and magnificent new chapter! All three of us at this end enjoyed it immensely. Harley and Ra's: now there's a match made in... Gotham... As you can see, we're enjoying the apartment. *bows in Selina's direction* And don't mind Bruce; he's always this rude. *looks at ceiling again* ...right. So. Excellent chapter; like everyone else we look forward to unfortunate Mr. Brady's reaction to all this; Batgirl's reaction to that, Batman's reaction to that, and Selina's reaction to that. (The observant among you will notice that the above paragraph contains a clue to the essential nature of Cat-Tales: it is about people. People in spandex, perhaps; people who go out and bash in the heads of criminals, sometimes; but CT is not an action-driven-'must-find-bigger-and-more-horrible-threats-to-the-universe-for-our-heroes-to-defeat-amidst-the-usual-explosions-and-lack-of-character-development' story. CT is instead a look at the lives and psyches and personality of people whose lives are interwoven together, just like in the real world. In other words, the series has heart. Thanks again for another installment in the ongoing great read, Chris. Dien-note to PhantomAngel-- read your story. Very funny! You have a fairly decent plot idea going (I like the idea of the Batclan being seen as a family); if you get a beta-reader to go through and help you touch up, I'd say you have a pretty good fic. Do I think Harv will turn up for his 2 o'clock? I doubt he'd even flip for it. He as about as much contempt for The Cadaver as Selina does. It was they who came up with that nickname in the first place. It was he (well, me) that came up with the 'singing telegram from Dead and loving it' gag. Harv isnt in the least bit afraid of Ra's and he also doesnt respect him in the least. Hence why he sent Harl - a whopping great snub as well as an incredible annoyance. Harv used to be a bit of a dandy about town - he knows how the game of society is played. And yes, he is busy printing off those T-Shirts...  PS I really do love you Miss Dee. He didn't show - he said he wasn't going to show, and he didn't. As Rob pointed out, he has no real regard for the Cadaver anyway, and even if he would have gone just to give Ra's a courtesy listen, any chance of that was shot to hell when Ulstarn made the appointment for 1:00. The very idea. Cretins. Harley showed up in his place, not because he sent her, but because she heard about it when the messenger went to Two-Face, and she thought it would be fun. She's like that. So much for the 1:00 interview. *********** The 2:00 was Greg/Giggles, and as you saw, he showed up and promptly at that. Why? Well possibly because, as you say, he isn't a full-fledged rogue in his own right, and he was flattered by the attention. It isn't every day somebody sends you a personal summons from a guy dressed like the King of Clubs and that is an awfully impressive header about the apex of the age of oneness and all, and the Gotham Imperial is a ritzy place, Greg's never been inside a joint like that. I haven't read anybody's replies yet.
I'm typing this as I read. Please forgive if I repeat what someone else has already said. Also, there will be heavy spoilers, which (just in case) I'll change to also be black -- highlighting should make it quit blending into the background. First time, this chapter, I got to really, really giggling: First Ulstarn came to him inquiring if he might have the honor of indoctrinating the new recruits. Oh, please, pretty please, please with caramel sauce and whipped cream on top, get his voice OUT of my mental hearing range. He's got this hint of nasalness to his voice. It's drilling a hole in my psyche. First time, this chapter, I laughed so hard that I dropped my keyboard: This was fortunate, for it meant Alfred did not have to watch as Selina drew floor plans and schematics all over his menus, proving conclusively that there were seven routes into the Gotham Imperial’s Royal Suite and not four as Bruce stubbornly insisted. Promptly followed by: And NOW on top of THAT, he was sending come hither candygrams to SELINA!!!! Wahoooo!!! Go get 'em, milady! And could you please, please, please, just in passing, I don't want to put you to any trouble, just apply a bit of the claws to Ulstarn's tongue on your way back home? Later on, there was: the laughing man's concubine in the mistaken belief that she was the Detective's concubine He is so dead. I don't care that no one heard the thought. He's a dead man. He is an ex-hairdo. … on a platter, with an apple stuffed in the mouth. He already had the platter, made especially by the monks of the Tharlam Monastery in Tibet. Okay, that might buy him out of some pain during his death. Even the Joker might agree that's kinda funny. He would be sent to… to… VICTORY!!! Oh, Chris, thank you, tears of happiness are pouring down my cheeks in anticipation even now. Words can not begin to describe the joy that I know at this moment. Excuse me, I think I'm going to go get a celebratory drink ... and then read the chapter again. Jarissa

Firstly, let me tell you it brought me great joy
this morning at 5:30am to realize that a new chapter of
Cattails, starring none other than my perfect self, was
up and available. It is always a great moment in my day
to read about myself. :)
However, I must take issue with this lieutenant of mine. Ulstarn, you obviously are over-rated. You spend all this time in the Detective's city, yet you haven't even grasped that Two-face has an obsession with the number two? And instead, at the 1:00 appointment, I get "treated" to the Joker's barely coherent ex-cohabitator? Really, my boy, you deserve posting to Antarctica, where perhaps the Penguins will molest you and I will not have to have you killed. Harley and the Hairdo? Harely and the Hairdo? *Somewhere, Ken is snickering like a maniac.* Ok, I'm hijacking this thing from Ra's while he has a seizure over the girl-band reference. I really was pleased to note this morning (while killing time before work) that there was a new chapter of Cattails up. Put me in a much better mood than typical for before work , and rather than attempt to say what others have
already said, I will simply say this: Thank you for
brightening my day.

 But seriously (HUSH ALERT - black text below, scroll over to read) While I may occasionally make you look a little silly, I do think I treat you better than Uncle Jephers did in 616. Yes, I know the thing with Canary was a little much, but who among us hasn't let the ol dignity slip when the hormones are raging. It isn't nearly in the same league as delivering speeches that border on shakespearean monologues while your chest is GUSHING BLOOD. Take a look at those panels, that's a lot of blood, don't you think that's a lot of blood? I think rather than discussing the intricacies of Lazarus Pit maintenance with the loathed enemy, the more common mode of speech in those circumstances isuullghhooulmgh*cough* Unrelated thoughts from Hush which I post here since we just mentioned Shiva: I see Jeph seems to share my view of her in that she is a one-note character, and her appearances need to be kept sufficiently short that *biff*pow* doesn't become a tedious bore. I think Az still has a few pics hidden around here somewhere, too...not that he'd part with them, but copies are possible... LOL, great chapter Chris. And not just the ending (even though it was priceless), I especially loved poor Twofers trying to cope with his new "sidekick" (or is that Hench-wench, I never can tell...).
