Cos they'll only sulk if you dont. is also a cat owner - live with one neway - Im sure hed argue over whom owns whom As for Harv, knowing him as I do, Im fairly sure he wont be tying Etty up. Aside from the fact that he couldnt (lets face it - tying up Nightwing was probably a once in a lifetime experience - unless your Babs) I dont think hed be too angry at Jase for giving Ivy possibly the best put down anyone has ever given her. It will be interesting to see how he reacts though. And I'll be honest, Harv being on the recruitment list had me TOTALLY thrown. I might have to slip him a weighted coin... And I do have an inkling who the third person is (Chris hasnt told me - Im guessing) but I wont say here just in case Im right... I.e. she is more normal then he is and might be able to get him to relax? See 'Pet the cat' Which is not to say that Selina would like having superbeings beg her to save them from the scary Batman... Now, as to a Catwoman-WW arguement, I want to phrase this carefully. Some time ago the characters pretty much took over control of what goes on in the catverse, they just allow me to take the credit. So while I can't be Don King and put two characters in the ring (or in any other situation) just because you or I might like to see it, I will promise that if the two ladies should have an altercation, I will make sure it all gets into cyberprint. Selina's first cat was an absolute princess of a blue point siamese called Filagree. Fila, unlike Isis the world's ugliest animated cat, was never allowed to accompany Catwoman to a hideout let alone on a prowl, since - as you know, as I know, as Selina knows - as apparently everyone but the folks at BTAS know - Siamese are the most vocal breed known to man. (My own was particularly fond of late night accoustic experiments in the bathroom) “Do you, Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle promise to forsake all others and reserve your warped, angst-ridden, dysfunctional nincompoopery for each other, thereby saving at least two innocent people and providing untold hours of fascinated diversion to the rest of us who might otherwise think WE have screwed up relationships!” --Dick Grayson in a moment of clarity

There was a small tremor in the Source recently, a ripple of Life and Joy from that from whence all such things flow, and now I and Mother Box know why -- and my father probably is cursing you for it, so watch your back. What you have done is to take a man's soul from the gates of Hell and bring it into the light. Your Bruce -- for he is yours, as he could be no-one else's, for no-one else could have done what you have -- has come to embrace life rather than merely watch it from a distance. As he has said, now he has a lot to live for; in truth, he always did have, but you have brought him to realise that. This is something all his friends, comrades and family could not do, but you have succeeded where they failed. Be glad. And be prepared for changes in your man; only the Source can tell how he may grow in this unaccustomed light, and it reveals only what it wishes us to know. Secondly, to Bruce: hail and well met, fellow warrior! You have grown, my comrade, in person and in spirit. Do not be afraid of this, for it will not harm you or your mission if you determine that that should not be so -- and you are known for your determination almost as much as for your prowess in battle and in strategy. Speaking of strategy, it was a wise move on your part to apologise to Whiskers and Nutmeg; not only is everything that Selina told you about their therapeutic powers the truth, but they are part of her -- and, thus, now part of you and your family. Treat them as what they are, and they will repay you in their own way, which may not be what you expect (they are, after all, cats), but you will not regret it -- in the long term, at least. There will never be Bat-Cats as there was once a Bat-Hound, but to have two such creatures regard you as their property is to gain benefits that only they and some of the Gods can know the full truth of. And finally, OOC, to Chris. Honestly, madam, this chapter was just so darn good, I'm suffering from "Doc" Smith Syndrome. The characters just keep growing and becoming ever richer, and I wish that we could make DC wake up and follow suit (maybe they are, or Loeb and co. are in their own way; we still need to shoot Bru et al.). I have just one tiny worry, which my over-stimulated brain came up with in an adrenaline rush when faced with the prospect of a new chapter after the numbing effects of marking student projects all afternoon, namely that the title "Splitzville" could be taken more than one way -- and I would be sorely disappointed if Selina scared herself into leaving the Manor after all the fuss about her moving in; not that there's any indication that this will happen, but there is that other meaning of "split", and my warped mind seized on the possibility and worries... BTW, it's late, but I do have to pay tribute to Harley's babbling to Raoul (and the doorman, and the pigeon! ) in the first chapter; the "Scary man" lines are absolutely priceless! As a long-term thing, I'd love to see more Harley-Jason interaction. ---- Ping! Ping! Ping! -- Mother Box She's such a chatterbox, sometimes...

Could we see other JLA member's reactions on meeting Selina after she and Bruce became 'Official'? And finally, In all seriousness, what would Selina think of a board or web site such as this, devoted to her in this way? Would she react as the 'And this involves me how?' Or would she back away, as if we were the Joker? Btw, What is the Catverse version of Bane and the Breaking of the Bat?

Posts: 941 06/09/03 19:11	Okay, considering Chris's deluged schedule (which I know a thing or two about after these last few weeks ) and the fact that I am the resident ODB around here (and by "ODB" I mean "Ol' Dark & Broody" not "Ol' Dirty Bastard" ) please allow me to take a crack at the Bane/Breaking of the Bat question: Considering there are innumerable references in CT to Jean Paul Valley as AzBat, The "Replacement" and even Pheromones, I think it's safe to assume that CT continuity does hold that there was some span of time in which JPV held the mantle of The Bat, presumably when Bruce was out of commission for some indeterminate amount of time. I also think it's safe to assume that the retarded wannabe-half-brother (Bane) was the reason for Bruce's absence. However, the Gotham Post being as it is, you can bet that what was widely reported as an "irreparably broken back" that resulted in "questions as to whether or not the original Bat would ever return to action," was more likely a severe spinal injury that required surgical repair and several months of rehabilitation. During said repair/recovery time, JPV was tapped as the Bat's "fill-in", a calamitous decision that led to a great deal of animosity between Bruce and Dick, Dick and JPV, JPV and Catwoman, JPV and everyone... but, hell, we all know that Bruce (among all of the other things he is) is the King of generating animus. Now, many choose not to believe that the AzBat era ever existed. However, most will admit to being aware of the massive fight between Bats and the wannabe-half-brother where Bats sustained major injury, mainly because Bane, being the complete media whore that he is, wanted to make sure that the entire world knew that he had been the one to Break the Bat... a fairly hefty claim to make when scant months later, the Bat returned and smacked his pansy ass from one side of Gotham to another, concluding by demanding that Bane forever leave the city never to return. Just a few short months ago, however, Bane reappeared with ridiculous assertions that he was, in fact, Bruce Wayne's half-brother... a claim that mostly went unheeded, even by many of the tabloids considering that about once a month, another yahoo crawls out of the woodwork to claim that they are Bruce's long-lost relative. Chalk it up to Bruce being the sole inheritor of the Wayne family fortune, the last of the Wayne family line with no heir apparent, and an incomparable bachelor -- attempts to exploit some heretofore unheard-of family relationship in the hopes of grabbing a little of that "Wayne Family Pie" are generally ignored and rejected as fallacy. For some unknown reason, even a few of Hollywood's best and brightest -- including that Clooney fellow -- have made claims on relations to the infamous bachelor, but all such claims have been summarily dismissed. I think Chris can clarify any of the minor details or correct any assumptions I made here as time permits, but this is how I have always envisioned the Knightfall/Knightsend stuff fitting into the CT universe. That's my opinion and I'm stickin' to it.

There was an arc about Bane trying to convince Bruce that Thomas had "Had relations" with a local woman when he was working as a Medic on Santa Prisca... that woman being Bane's mama. He had a snapshot with Thomas and his mom posing together and everything! I'm still not sure if the premise was that it had happened before Thomas and Martha got together or if it was supposed to be that Thomas had supposedly cheated on Martha. Anyway, it went on for like 4 grueling issues and ended up being "inconclusive". Go figure. But essentially, it was stated that Bane was NOT Bruce's half-brother and that it had all been just some wild goose chase someone had hooked Bane on. Ridiculous, no?

In the catverse, however, Bane never came forward purporting to be Bruce's half-brother. That is too silly even for the Gotham Post. For that level of idiocy you have to look to the real world. I did take a few shots at the Bane Wayne idiocy in Trick or Treat, but it was strictly an injoke for those in the know. No bleedover into catverse continuity.

In that last is the likely place for Shiva in the Catverse history of that time: just as, in the Gotham Post account (IIRC), she helped Bruce recover from his injuries and train himself back to a level of fitness and capability that he considered acceptable, so she did likewise here, except that the nature and extent of Bruce's injuries were as described above rather than as trumpeted abroad by Bane and the GP. Once again, what the Catverse does is to rationalise the hysteria in Wond-- sorry, I mean the Gotham Post into something that makes sense... and is fun to read! ---- Ping! Ping!
