Did you seriously think that I hadn't read that? But thanks for the thought, anyway. I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the S-B title, and doubly so by their finally getting rid of <gag> President Luthor -- always assuming that some twit at the Post doesn't hit the Big Reset Button the way they did after AoS #700 or thereabouts.
And the stupidity of Luthor knifing Bruce (in costume, yet!) in #6 will be dismissed as the usual Post garbage.

not in a "teach me how to use magic"
aspect. Knowing Bruce and his methods for learning
everything he can about an enemy, it would make sense
that after his first or second bout with a
"magical" adversary, he'd seek out some
of the best practitioners for insight into the basic
rules, guidelines and tenets of the Dark Arts in order to
be prepared in the future. As Zatara was long-known
(before his untimely demise) as one of the best handlers
of magic in the DCU, Bruce would have contacted him for
this very purpose. So, in some respects, Zatara
"instructed" him - not really in how to
use magic, but in the basic fundamentals behind the
"hows" and "whys" of
magic. As was addressed in the chapter, Bruce thinks of
magic as "cheating" - a cheap way to
pervert and distort the laws of nature. But that doesn't
stop the fact that he's at least familiar enough with it
to know how it's commonly used. So although
"officially" in the comics, Zatara has
been listed as one of Bruce's many
"teachers", I always thought of it in
more of an "informational" basis, not
on a practical application basis. 
). As
far as CT goes... well, I'll leave it up to Chris for a
definitive answer, but in my experience as a CT
reader/Fan, just because someone's not mentioned, doesn't
mean they won't pop up from time to time...
