Yeah, you should probably wait until the story is available for public viewing before making an announcement. FFN always says how it could be more than 24 hours between the submission of a story and the time it becomes available. Sincerely, Allaine (who is certainly waiting for it to arrive) ![]() |

Ok, sorry folks. RL and Writer's Block teamed up to
kick my ass over the last couple of weeks.
Chapter 4 is finished and up! This one's a little more on the serious side... chock full of Angsty-Goodness! Anyway, you can find it here: JLAin't: The Other Side - Chapter 4 There were some problems uploading it, but I think the whole thing is up now... |

I just finished reading chapter 4 and saw no signs
of writer's block! Very intriguing plot. I'm enjoying
watching the character's personalities grow and become
very distinct. Wally and Kyle are the frat boys. J'Onn
J'Onzz is much like a father figure. Really very good!

Ok, I get the feeling that Kyle and Wally have a
lot more in common than most of your other heros....their
interactions continue to remind me of something...
But seriously, that was the best chapter yet! I totally didn't expect Arthur's version of the "story", that caught me by surprise! A great job sir! |

Hmm... the plot thickens. I'd say that you didn't
like Diana, were it not for my suspicious nature... and
the fact that I think the princess and the sea king doth
protest too much. I shall be intrigued to see where you
take this.
One minor editing problem: you start at the "cliff-hanger", as it were, then suddenly switch back to before the mission; I think some form of note that the scene in the Watchtower took place earlier would help there. BTW, did you know that ffnet appear to have interchanged chapters 2 and 3? By which I mean that the titles have been swapped and if you call up "Chapter 2" according to the drop-down menu, you get the text of the original Chapter 3 ("J'Onn"), which is still labelled there as #3, and vice versa. Does this mean that you've changed your mind, and they should be swapped, or is it a snafu? ----

Thanks folks! Glad to see you guys like it! I'm
sorry again that it took so long. Hopefully Ch 5 will be
a little quicker coming!
Az - as far as Wally and Kyle go... I'm sure I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about Orion - Actualy, despite evidence to the contrary, I do like Diana... mostly. As far as the "Cliff-hanger -- you're absolutely right... mostly Oh and the Ch2-Ch3 debacle has been cleared up. Turns out there was a minor snafu with FFN when I posted Ch 4 and changed the Summary. Should all be cleared up. Just in case, the actual order should be: Ch1. The Show Ch2. Of Telephones and Song tags Ch3. J'onn Ch4. Kurdistan Hope that helps! |

After a little hiatus, JLAin't is back in action!
Chapter five is now uploaded and available for viewing. You will most likely not find it today unless you use the direct link: www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=857361&chapter=5 After today (9/19) it should show up as a regular additional chapter. A very special thanks to Chris for her assistance with this one. I couldn't have handled Selina's appearance without her input. Thanks. And fair warning: This chapter is a little short on funny and a little long on story, but what do you expect... It's the Protocols. |

Quote:...and also long on mystery, with even a soupcon of pathos; not bad for 5,600 words... Ver-rr-ry interesting, Myklar... I came up with several possible reasons for Diana's behavour, but somehow, I don't think any of them are right... I shall be more than a little intrigued to see just what is going on here. BTW, I don't follow Diana's adventures much, so remind me: is she still Goddess of Truth, or did she surrender that role when she returned to life on Earth? In any case, it was good to see that you're following the Cat-Tales concept of making the stupider events portrayed in the comics into tabloid "journalism"; I really dislike it when DC decides yet again to revamp the JLA by throwing out members (especially, but not limited to Superman and Batman) and "justify" it by coming up with some half-baked reason for a quarrel that's only there so that <insert character name here> can storm out or be told to get lost by the others in a suddenly self-righteous fit of pique. Roll on, Chapter 6! Just what is the significance of Arthur and J'Onn's find -- and, for that matter, Clark's discovery? We wait to see... ----

Quote:INDEED, and AMEN. It was in a spirited IM chat with one of you that somebody made the priceless observation that the JLA was beginning to resemble backstage at a bitchy theatre company. I laughed, but - whoever you were - I was really honked off you came up with the theatre analogy before I did. |

Orion -- Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
As far as Diana's status as the "Goddess of Truth" -- honestly, I don't know either. And as far as her behavior... well... Suppose you've lived your entire life without ever being able to lie... not even the polite, little-white variety: "Sure, I can handle that, no problem" "No, I didn't overhear that embarrassingly personal conversation" "You look lovely and no, your ass doesn't look fat in that dress..." -- you get the picture. Now, suppose that after 30-some odd years, you suddenly find yourself able to lie not only to strangers, but to your family, your friends and even yourself! Add on top of that a Amazonian-Island-Nation-Sized Bucket o' Guilt over loosing an artifact of supreme global importance and divine mystical power... and you start to get en understanding of Diana's... issues. Ok, I'm gonna shut up now, before I give the entire plot of Ch. 6 away! And yes, I too get a little tired of the.. well, tired little storylines that some writers (read: DC Staff) come up with in order to "shake things up a bit". I mean, what was the purpose of having the League members tell each other their secret identities -- other than to setup that ridiculous "split identites" story arc?! Now future writers have to handle the fact that they all know that Superman is Clark Kent, Batman in Bruce Wayne, etc!! WTF!?! Take a look at the recent story arc invading the Superman titles ("Ending Battle"). The basic premise: after 60-some odd years of comics, Lex Luthor has finally discovered that Clark Kent is Superman! And what does he do?! The same friggin thing that happened during the "Death of Clark Kent" series -- attack all of his family and friends in hopes of getting to him! Guys, please!!! We've been down that road already before -- several times! Let's come up with some new ideas!!! And I admit, the whole "Comics as the Tabloids" thing was one of the main reasons I (and several others, judging from conversations I've had) was sucked into Cat Tails to begin with. Ingenious way to disregard whatever ego-powered monkey-wrench some jag-off with the name "DC Comics" tacked under his ridiculously-overglamorized Job title has decided to toss into the over-produced machine we they laughingly refer to as "Continuity!" (Damn, could I possibly use any more hyphens in one sentence!?! Ok, enough DC bashing... for now. |

It took me a little while, but I got around to
reading chapter 5. Excellent and each chapter is getting
better and better. I love how you are handling the
characters.
I also throughly enjoyed the part about how heroes put on a "game face." Nice to see Plastic Man in a fan-fic. I imagine he might not make it into many stories. If you haven't read JLAin't, I highly recommend it. B |
