I think he did cover that a chapter or two back,
this Ivy like ours, remembered Miriam Nash from The
Highland Games and went back to The Curiosity Shop to get
some magical enhancement for her powers.

Nice chapter. It'll be interesting to see how Ivy
gets out of her current predicament.

In answer to your other question, Kimberly, this is
Jenna's first appearance in any CT-related story. She's
actually inspired by someone from the comics, but don't
be surprised if you don't remember her. Most people
don't. (But I don't want to give it away JUST
yet.)

Hoo.
I realize it's been over four months since this story was last updated. Undoubtedly there are those of you who thought it had been abandoned. I want to say that I've had a very busy past few months, and I was also dealing with a case of - well, I guess "writer's block" is the simplest term. However, I am relieved to say that Chapter Six can now be found at both Cat-Tales and FFN via the links below. cattails.homestead.com/ct...sow-06.htm www.fanfiction.net/s/2834621/6/ I really hope that you enjoy this, and that in some small way it was worth the wait. Sincerely, Allaine

Well, I read it yesterday and I though it was worth
the wait. I'm a bit surprised no one else has commented
before now, but maybe you don't have the ff.net
notification arangements going the way Chris does.
Anyway, moving on to the fic itself, this chapter explained things that needed explaining, did a good job of giving us a glimpse inside Pammy's head, and nicely captured some of the interactions between these characters. Kudos on demonstrating Pammy's desperate, clingly need for external afirmation. On the other hand, the story didn't actually progress to any significant degree, so I hope for some action or twists in the next chapter. |

Dear readers,
Well, only two months since the last chapter, so I guess that's an improvement, right? Anyway, there has been talk that the last couple chapters haven't moved things along much. That will change, beginning right now with the new Chapter Seven. My work schedule will be getting increasingly heavier over the next two months, but I'm working on increasing the speed at which these chapters are being finished. Enjoy. cattails.homestead.com/ct...sow-07.htm www.fanfiction.net/s/2834621/7/ Sincerely, Allaine

I have to say, I personally love this chapter. I
love Pammy's baby steps into rational thought. I love how
it's her fundamental selfishness that leads her to start
seeing other people as people. I LOVE how Jenna has these
definite Ivy tendencies herself. Really enjoying this
Allaine. Kudos.

I'll second Chris's comments regarding Pammy. It's
a delight to see a gradual and naturally evolving
maturity, as opposed to an abrupt about-face that came
out of nowhere.
One of the joys of reading this chapter is that it provided an excuse to go through the previous chapters all over again. Such a recap drove home how similar Jenna is to Ivy: 1) Both have red hair. 2) At one point, she aspired to be like Ivy. 3) Her efforts to start a nightclub are motivated more by desires for power and revenge than business savvy. Having said that, Jenna's idea might actually work if this version of Pammy wasn't starting to "grow up." I'm looking forward to seeing how this all plays out. A slight question, though: I take it that "Lionel Leiverman" is either this reality's version of Lex or Lionel. What was the rationale behind using "Leiverman" instead of "Luthor?" Definitely looking forward to the next installment, Allaine. This last chapter was definitely worth the wait. |

Re: Reap What You Sow - a "Pink Sapphire" fic | #31 | ||
Quote: A good question. If you'll remember, Reap What You Sow is based on a visit Selina paid to a "pink sapphire" world in String Theory. In both her home world and these alternate universes, Bruce is working with a physicist who's an expert on string theory in an attempt to discover whether or not Zatanna has "magicked" Selina. In the home world, the physicist's name is Leiverman. In the alternate worlds, his (or her, or their) name is Luthor. The reasoning was that: In Selina's world, we have a physicist named Leiverman and a billionaire, megalomaniac, and all-around bad guy named Luthor. In the other worlds, we have a physicist named Luthor. It seemed logical, therefore, that Leiverman is the name of Superman's archnemesis in these other worlds as well. Hope that answers your question. In reference to your other comments, I just want to remind everyone that Jenna is in fact inspired by a character from the comics, and those readers who are familiar with DCU developments over the past few years may recognize where she comes from. Thanks, Chris and Equinox! Sincerely, Allaine

I really do apologize about these long delays. I know it doesn't help when you have to reach back three months into your memories in order to remember where we left things. Still, I hope you're able to enjoy the latest chapter, which can be found on both Cat-Tales and FF.net. Thanks. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2834621/8/

Hmm...very interesting to see how similar things are to the Cat-Tales universe...and yet...things are so different.
Nice to explore a different (and/or alternate) viewpoint of Eddie: the heightened respect, or fear, for professional hitmen. It just doesn't do to piss off such characters. Particularly when they are so sheltered, that you have no idea what'll set them off. Haven't seen Talia for a while. It's...comforting to see that this version is so familiar. I almost got lost, the way she spun herself layer after layer of delusions and self-corrections that only cemented the gaping chasm between her and any semblance of truth or reality. And to top it off, she decided to watch CNN. How...appropriate. I really enjoyed the conversation between Bruce and Clark. It's good to see that Bruce is moving forward, rather than brooding over the dilemna between the unexpected benefits of Joker's demise and the guilt from feeling glad that he's dead. I also found his motivations for getting the Gatta rather sweet. Of course, Clark had wedding bells ringing in his head, but at least he's a good enough friend to avoid giving voice to those bells...for now... One last note: a few months ago, Allaine mentioned that Jenna was inspired by a DCU character. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), I'm not familiar with DCU developments. Which character was that, and why was he/she an inspiration? Looking forward to Chapter 9! |

Wow, RE. That is some really nice feedback you've got there. So far there hasn't been a single person who's been able to identify the source for Jenna's character, which pleases me for two reasons. One, I felt that the more mystery there was about her and her origins, the more in the dark readers would be as to her goals and her motivations. Two, her inspiration comes from a particularly detestable moment in the recent DCU past, and it's nice that everyone seems to have forgotten it. Still, the story HAS come far enough along, and as much as I feel like I'm bringing knowledge to the Garden of Eden . . . Jenna was one of the orphans that Poison Ivy took in during No Man's Land. She resurfaced during a five-part storyline in Batman: Gotham Knights just prior to OYL, having developed powers of her own thanks to the treatment Ivy gave the orphans so they could survive being in close proximity to her. Last we saw before OYL, Ivy was "dead" and this Jenna girl was running around murdering people on some government agency's say-so, allowing people to think the real Ivy was responsible. Consequently, there were a lot of unpleasant rumors that when OYL began, Pammy was going to stay dead, and Jenna would become "Poison Ivy II". Fortunately, that didn't happen. (Unfortunately, it didn't matter because DCU still sucks.) That being said, the Jenna in Reap has no powers whatsoever, and was not one of Ivy's orphans. Beyond that, well, you'll have to see why she doesn't particularly like Pammy. Thanks again. Expect to see plenty more of Eddie, Talia, and the others in chapters to come.
Sincerely, Allaine

Reading 'RWYS' is like reading Cat-Tales through a mirror. Except the mirror has a slight twist to it. So that everything that is reflected is there,
but just slightly bended, a little different. It is very odd, and very wonderful. I look forward to future installments, and hope that you will begin to bring
in more of the Rogue and Bat-crew. I realise that this is based off of an alternate reality from the Strings chapter but what you've done so far has made
me wonder what else you can bring to the rest of the Cat-Tales crew. I eagerly look forward to Chapter 9.
And I agree, DCU as is sucks. They need to re-haul their thing, and I don't mean another Crisis, or 52. |

Much to your surprise, you've discovered that this story is not in fact dead. In fact, Chapter Nine can now be read at either of the links below.
I apologize deeply for the delay. I was wrapped up in real life (and, admittedly, a 70,000-word fic about, among other things, a hairless rodent, a flirtatious spaceship, and a magic watch). But there will be more. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2834621/9/Reap_What_You_Sow http://catwoman-cattales.com/ct/44sp-reapwhatyousow-09.htm

New chapter!
Mature Pammy (or more mature than Cat Tales-verse Pammy, anyway) is very interesting. So is alternate Eddie. *sigh* I'm crap at reviewing. It seems like all of the other people reading Cat Tales do well-thought-out and insightful reviews. I really wish I could put my reactions to these stories into words more effectively. I really did enjoy it, though. Please try not to leave us waiting for as long on Chapter 10. |

The more things change, the more they stay the same...
That bit of shoe-shopping (wasn't that pulled from Perennials or something) showed that AU Pammy has matured a bit since the beginning of Reap What You Sow. She dialled back on the herbs (okay, not the best example, that was to preserve her ability to green her victims), she's somewhat receptive to Selina's advice, and she deduced that some men are not receptive to her pheremones. She still has certain insecurity issues, mind you. But there is a bit of growth. Once again, Talia got some action after facing some rather blatant disapproval and (not entirely undeserved) criticism. Nice AU touch to have it happen under different circumstances, by the way. Her choice of... "partners", though was... surprising. Eddie sure is more direct in this AU. Or maybe he's still hung over from the alcohol. No sneak-around-the-bush this time. Nope, instead, he'll track Selina down and flat-out ask her the ultimate question. What's more, he'll openly and honestly admit that he needs to know because he doesn't want to inadvertently screw over his friend. This isn't over. Not by a long shot. I don't know what's more intriguing: how Bruce, Selina and Eddie will deal with the possibility that's haunting Eddie, or how Pammy's grand opening will turn out. |
