Repeating the big announcement: I'm going to be consolidating some of the message boards in this forum, and retiring a few that no longer serve much purpose. Don't worry though, all the must keep material will be archived in the library. This board isn't going away, Cat-Tales isn't going away. It's just cyber-housecleaning. Nobody panic.

Fett, congratulations, I think you are the only one in these boards to catch the Arkham Asylum homage. A couple people at FFnet did also. I don't remember any Bat-related game getting this kind of universal thumbs up. Deserved a nod, IMO.

*waves to Ichigenka* I just can't stay away from the chessboard when Ra's is involved. There's just something about him, putting all that study into an obscure exploit in the Sicilian Defense and getting taken out by the Winchester Gambit.

Ben, you always make me blush. Cinematic is exactly what I was going for. And I think your summary of Dr. Meadows is right on the money.

Timmo! Glad you came back, sorry you couldn't stay for the chat. Good questions. I don't read the post either, but when I did, Demons were not shy about ripping off masks. Captured once = busted. Speaking for the CTverse, however, they can be a bit more elegant. Since they know Bruce is Batman, and this one kid of the correct body type has been a guest at Thanksgiving dinner at the manor and on other occasions... Demon would have their antenae up during the Identity Crisis/Identity Element killings too, and would have been in a position to notice things that the rest of the world could not, like the Book of Revelations Bat-response to Jack Drake being shot in a "home invasion."
Now, Tim was not placed undercover with the scientists the way Selina was. He was supposed to be there as Tim Drake, student, in the hotel, attending the sessions and dinners, keeping his eyes open, noticing waiters, bus boys, and air vents, and ready to change to Robin at the first sign of trouble. It was only when Tim Drake, student, found himself one of the prisoners that the other scientists circled the wagons and concocted the idea that he was one of them.
All that said, there is still a hole in the Demon/identity issue in my mind. As stated in the text, every minion does not know everything that "Demon" knows as an organization. (For one thing, Ra's doesn't like his people that well-informed. They'd only start thinking for themselves and noticing certain things don't add up. It's like those creationists making their own Wikipedia because there are too many facts they can't reconcile in the real one.) However, minions being sent to Gotham SHOULD be allowed to peruse those files. Otherwise, like here, they might accidentally capture the Detective's very own sidekick. Oops.
The oversight can either be attributed to hubris on Ra's part, laziness on mine, or Dika's curse from chapter 1. Like Ben remarked at the time, don't mess with gypsies. It's asking for pain.

Which *waving to both nodrogs and Random Equiox* I think is the best refrain as to your comment of how FAST Ra's great plan unspooled. He really was defeated before he ever began. I knew that was going to be the case from waaay back in Chapter 1, and I hoped it wouldn't be a letdown. That's a big reason why I wanted to make sure the big takedown was cinematic. Not only did the undersea setting deserve it, the readers did for going along with this whole crazy ride.
