The fact that Ra's has decided to send B a crossword is interesting enough, but without knowing why or what, it's impossible to predict just how screwed Ra's is.

For my money, this is Batman's collection. The fact that it's Ra's has nothing to do with it. It's the mystery.

When all is said and done, there are few things as enjoyable in Cat Tales as Bruce's reaction when Selina goes over some of the details of her days as a
thief. Just priceless.

twisted?"

or Bugio, something to tempt the detective with. It's sounding like a pre made prison island. IF Ra's knows that detective will deduce the identity of
the source, then there's bound to be a confrontation at one of Ra's combine. Why know make a compound directly for the imprisonment of the Bat.
Course that's to say that if Ra's wants to get B out of the way and just still for an heir. |

Just as an FYI, it's probably not Fort Leonard. The only Fort that I know of with a similar name is Fort Leonard Wood.

Welcome, tm80, and correct. I would never take a snipe like that at a real base. Same reason Witford's dishonorable discharge and criminal record are
mentioned, to separate him, albeit subliminally, from the real vets for whom I have the highest respect.

Quite all right. I only mentioned it because it's where I went to basic training, so it stuck out.

You have achieved the impossible- you made me feel sorry for Ubu!

You always wanted advice from the 5000 year man, so here it is. Never get caught unexpectedly with a goat. They're fantastically difficult animals to explain, and people are so rarely ready to listen to your reasons for having the animal in your bedroom. Then it all gets rather unpleasant, in my experience. - Methos: "Bodypaint, Bartabs, And Beer" by Andie P. |

Real Life's rearing it's ugly head again (more than the past little while), so I'll be brief:
Great chapter, Chris. Just be careful: the last two chapters alone have bumped Ubu into the ranks of third-rate rogues like Slam Bradley (in terms of my respect for him). At the rate he's going, I might start regarding him with the same esteem I hold for the A-listers. |

Re.: Chapter 3 - Dispatches | #32

Well, that was an unexpected detour... Or was it a detour? When dealing with the Hairdo's chess fixation, one can never be too sure. It should be
interesting to learn what Arthur finds, if anything. If he finds something, then look to the Demon Head for answers. If he find nothing... then maybe there
is a boogeyman.
I liked the OCs in this chapter, particularly the various ladies in the life of King Orin. I had to laugh at poor Lorena's collision with Atlantean protocol. The concept of a democratically elected leader must seem strange to the Atlanteans, who are, of course, a hereditary autocratic monarchy. The trick Dick played on Tim was cruel, cruel, cruel. But it was also funny. I, too, wonder who Tim will ultimately choose to be. I think that Bruce is right with his advice. Dick, after all, is always himself. It is interesting how easy it is to make it implausible that your day persona could possibly be a masked vigilante. You see, it isn't your problem to disprove, it is their problem to prove and it is often the furthest thing from their minds. "Tim? Tim's a great guy - real tech-head but he knows how to party. Robin? You're crazy! He is a lab-jockey! He couldn't go out swinging from jump lines and breaking heads to save his life! His girl? Cassie's probably the most timid mouse you could hope to meet! Getting her to talk, let alone meet your eye is hard enough! Batgirl? No! No way could she do stuff like that!" Very much a transitional chapter for all its good features. I'm beginning to wonder exactly what Ra's plan is (and remember that he is likely starting from false intelligence) and exactly what it is supposed to achieve. BenRG's Rating: 7.5/10 ~*~*~*~

About the only thing I can think of at the moment is that I keep seeing Daemons in the Details even if he isnt actually there. I've suddenly decided that
said container was deliberatly deployed from a rowboat and timed for the sole reason of giving Arthur a puzzle he needed to call Batman in on.

Aww, poor Tim. I can definitely feel for him in this one. He always ends up in these sort of positions, and you can't help but root for him and wish him
the best. I can just visualize his encounter with Selina and picture him having flashbacks to all of his encounters as Robin going up against the female Rogues
Gallery. I literally laughed out loud when he said he didn't want to be "that guy". :D I'm looking forward to his development.
And I really enjoyed the divert to King Orin and Atlantis. You really helped flesh things out and bringing up Sub Diego again was nice. My interest has been piqued by the likes of Valerina and Lorena, and now I'm curious about how this new development relates to the plot at hand. I can't really give as good insight as the rest of the gang here, but I thoroughly enjoyed the chapter. |

I don't think Ra's is Arthur's Boogeyman. I think it's just a coincidence. If it was all misdirection, then ra's wouldn't be making
changes to his own living arrangements for the duration.
Of course, that means nothing, who knows what the plan is? I like the comparison between Arthur's staff and Ra's. Both bend the rules for the efficiency and service, but only one of them with permission. If Ra's is behind Arthur's Kraken, then he's picked an interesting target in the opposing Monarch. The Talk. HAHAHAHAHA. Sounds familiar. Oh, and Chris, one last thing: Quote: "I'm not a Trekkie, but now it's like all I can think about is this one episode of Next Generation where Geordi is all excited because Leah Brahms-she's this propulsion expert who designed a lot of the warp engines on the ship-is coming onboard. And he feels like he knows her 'cause he'd made a holographic representation of her in the holodeck to work on some crisis, and they really hit it off. I mean, he knows it's not really her or anything, but his hologram was based on the real Dr. Brahms's personality profile, and they really hit it off, so he's excited. But then when she shows up in person, the real Leah Brahms I mean, and it's a trainwreck. She shows up and says 'Oh, so you're the jerk who's been screwing up my designs' and it goes downhill from there." EndQuote. Marry me. Chris, Marry me. I'll sleep on your couch, I don't eat much, I'm a good cook. Please, take the proposal in the spirit it's meant. ;-) Looking forward to more. |

Well i've got to hand it to Tim, I guess all those encounters with older Villains give him an subconscious like for the older ladies :D
Still having the curse of the Robin on him, he's totally gonna strike out and hilarity will ensue. How this relates to Ra's I have no idea, but i wouldn't past him knowing how (or employing someone to knows how) to make whale hormones. |

Re: The Curse of Robin | #37
ichigenka wrote:Oh, agreed. What is more, the Curse has two phases. First, he'll strike out. Secondly, the disaster will be so total that he'll feel the need to vent. Selina has already proved that she isn't necessarily the person to go to with relationship issues. Bruce less so. Dick would probably start making recommendations about becoming a Trek Nerd again. The practical upshot of all this will be that Tim and Cassie will end up on patrol together that night, commiserating with each other about their stalled social lives (Tim as a general thing and Cassie about the boy in the oriental medicine shop). Naturally, they will give each other a 'pity date' as they can't find anyone else. After that? Well, they do say that what happens in Titans Tower stays in the Tower but Kon, Rose and Bart are rumoured to have incriminating photographs. You see, the second phase of the Curse always involves a Batgirl.
Yeah, I'm a Tim/Cassie shipper. You can tell, can't you? ~*~*~*~

Phase two now also include possible whole sale property damage. Seriously, last time Cass and Tim teamed up the Iceburg burned down. Since Atlantis is already
under water I wouldn't put it past Fate to have Cass and Tim some how get it raised to the surface temporarily.

Just a question. Did you mean for the first mention of the Deep Denizens to be 1800 years before the present [200AD], or 18000 years before the present
[around the Obsidian Age of Atlantis]?
Otherwise, despite not commenting recently, I have enjoyed the stories. |
