Ha ha! I love it! The intensity in the cave, the anagrams, Ivy. Oh my goodness. That girl never ceases to amuse me. She's so...so...much!
lol. I knew Eddy would have fun with the Arab's name, but I totally missed the other one until he singled it out. *grins*

1) I caught the references in my second reading of the first chapter (see first post) but I didn't think it was really going to be him.
I'm surprised that Bats is so willing to accept that it is the real deal so rapidly, and I'm still partially suspecting that someone is pulling a very
elaborate prank, but it's becoming increasingly unlikely.

WandersNowhere, your faithful interpretation of the Cat-Tales version of DCU characters (takes deep breath) is quite impressive. You've captured Batman,
his frustration at both his failure to solve this latest "case" and the subsequent neglect of his other duties, and his knee-jerk reaction (and yet,
his gut instinct) regarding magic. Catwoman's actions and responses, from the pleased-as-punch enthusiasm over her contribution to the case to her
immediate response to PsychoBat, was spot-on. Joker's response to the Batman movie, and how he played that Arkham guard, reflects the contradiction
between long-term planning and chaos that was so prominently displayed in The Dark Knight. Going back to Chapter 4, given his aid in deducing the identity of
the Big Bad, one wonders whether he will provide further assistance (or will suffer for past assistance) in the future.
Speaking of the Big Bad... |

Thanks for your kind responses, everyone. It's been as much as pleasure to watch everyone react to this story as it was to write it in the first place.
And boy was it fun to write that scene with the Joker. I confess, since TDK wasn't anything more than a trailer at the time I wrote it, I was really thinking of a slightly more murderous version of the Mark Hamill Joker (which is sort of how I see CT-verse Mistah J anyway) when I was writing it. It's probably one of my favorite scenes in the entire story so far. Stay tuned for more! |

Extremely clever story, not to mention ambitious - crossing over with Stoker AND Hollywood? Perhaps you'd care to throw the Lost Boys in while you're
at it
I had a bad feeling that Ivy would be filling the Lucy Westenra role in this little drama, but I'll be curious to see what transformative effect being a Drac groupie will have on her - the ultimate man-hater, being manipulated by a man's powers to serve him? Yikes. (You'd just better not be thinking of having anything hammered through her chest!) About as bad as the Scarecrow turning into a sidekick. And Selina may want to retrieve that Supersoaker and give all the cave bats a daily spritz - with holy water rather than salt water this time. Hm . . . it seems I have completely forgotten how to use spoiler fonts. Spoiler I'm a bit sorry that Bruce didn't find out it was Eddie who gave Selina the key to the mystery. It would have driven him nuts. (But I can see why she didn't pass that along.) And the newest Joker material was brilliant. I am officially "excited".
Sincerely, Allaine

Hi Allaine! Don't worry, I understand your concerns 100%. Just trust me, I have no intent to have Ivy fill the Lucy role
I hope to get that part right, you'll see very soon =D Thanks for the commentary!

Very well done, really enjoying the story.
As for the three brides of Dracula: Ok, it looks like Poison Ivy is going to be one of the three. With her powers, she definately could qualify as potentially one of the three most dangerous women in Gotham. It's going to be interesting how her bio-chemistry handles being hit by Dracula. One possible idea: Since we know Pamela can choose to let chemicals affect her (such as, when she wants to get drunk), if Dracula can MAKE her want to be his bride, then his bite should work... as long as he can keep her under his thrall. The other two brides: Due to her link with the Joker and Pam, I'd say Harley is dangerous, but not in her own right. Not really what I'd consider ride material. Catwoman: Definately a tempting target, and I wouldn't want to get on her bad side. Bride material, but she's a purple cat... maybe Dracula's smart enough to give her a wide berth. On the other hand, her links with tall, dark, and broodsome might make her irresistable. Roxie Rocket: Addreneline junkey, supply of rockets, but more of a danger to herself then others. Not much of a target. Cassandra Kane: Trained killer. Young. Tends to be lonely, doesn't fit in well with others. PERFET BRIDE MATERIAL Barbara Gordon/Grayson: The original Batgirl. In a wheel chair, but vampirism might let her regain her mobility. Knowledge of technology makes her a powerful resource, especially if Dracula realizes how important computers are in the modern web of information. After looking at it, I'd be surprised if Catwoman or Cassandra were not at least one of the two targetted brides. If Dracula does go after Cassandra or atwoman and sees them as being on the side of Good, he might choose a non-rogue, non-Bat just to round out the three. Possibly one of the 'girls in blue' of the Gotham PD. |

You know, maybe it'll help Catwoman to get over "Blah! I vant to suck your blood!" if she forgot all about Bela Lugosi, Count Chokula, and Count
VonCount.
I mean, Vlad "The Impaler" Tepes wasn't exactly a pushover. |

He doesn't know?
He doesn't know? He's easily in the top 10 of internationally recognized figures/characters and HE DOESN'T KNOW? Heed Knots Own? Kneed Hot Snow? Need Honk Twos? Need Shot Wonk? Dense Who Knot? Showed Ken Not? I think Jason Blood may have over-sold the Count a bit. This is the sort of thing we've come to expect from the other Cadaver. I also think we can discard thoughts of Barbara as a bride. If he knew enough about the last few decades to understand the importance of computers, he'd know about this. |

Sometimes it's easy, when you're so focused on thinking of every little contingency, and covering your tracks, to miss something that's right in
front of your face.
Keeping in mind too that the Count in the book arranged shipping his boxes, hiding them, his various real estate deals in England, and everything else via correspondence from his castle, without ever stepping foot outside it except to hunt. He's had too much business on his mind to bother with pop culture, and it's about to bite him in the ass. Just like Batman didn't contemplate that someone would make a -movie- about him, Drac couldn't conceive that Van Helsing would sell his story to an Irish stage manager and set in motion the chain of events that lead to what he's about to witness in the next chapter ;) |

Cockroach. That is the single most disgusting thing I have EVER read, second ONLY to certain slash pairings...which I didn't exactly read, but for
which the mere realisation of the concept required massive amounts of mind bleach. But this...THIS I actually read. Ugh! *shudders*
Oh dear! I can't believe he could study American history and culture and not know, but my imagination swims with all the catastrophies and horrors that could occur while educating him. Ha ha! I do hope we get at least a glimpse into his reaction if not more. ^__^ Welcome to a world without rules! |

Lovlely Loli-goth Harley is just a frightening image. you are an evil person;) Extra points for Gary Oldman being the only named member of the Cast for TDK. Movie Night at the Ha-Ha-Hacienda! This is going to be fun.

I wonder if Scarecrow realizes how his diet has changed since he met his "Master", and whether he'll do anything about it. Anyhow, clearly the
Big Bad doesn't get out much. I'm not ready to put him in the same league as the Cadaver: he did manage to have Bats spinning in circles, he isn't
re-using old plans for the umpteenth time (to our knowledge), and his only slip-up is due to a lack of knowledge of pop culture, not any tactical or strategic
errors. The lesson he's about to learn from Professor J and TA Harley should be quite... entertaining...

Chris and I agreed it's sometimes good to humanise your villain a little and have a laugh at their expense - we've had a good laugh at every single one
of the Rogue's Gallery by now, but we can still respect and fear (most of) them! Plenty of time for the Count to be a baddass later on.
