Hey congrats! I'm sure I'll be thinking of new ones so I'll update this list a few times before you go. A few options for you to consider,
You may want to visit one of the big museums. The Metropolitan has been mentioned several times, and their Egyptian Gallery does indeed have the Sit Hathor necklace mentioned in Cattitude. The MOMA is midtown, and has become ruinously expensive. Bruce's favorite painting (and mine) Van Goth's Starry Night is there. Both of the main restaurants in Central Park have been mentioned. Eddie went to Tavern on the Green when he was on the run in The Gotham Post, and the Boathouse Restaurant is the model for the place where Selina met Ivy for lunch in Perennials. (Speaking of Perrennials, Jimmy Choo's is also real and speaking of Selina & Pammy, both chocolate shops they discussed in I
Believe in Harvey Dent are real too.)
The hotel bar where Bruce met Harvey in Fool is Randolph's at the Warwick. (The other was the Oak Bar at the Plaza, but alas, last I heard it is still closed. The Plaza was prominently featured in Secrets (ballroom) and Red Cape, Big City (Palm Court). Unfortunately, they're still in the process of going residential or not, caught in a fluctuating economy limbo). Bergdorf Goodman has been mentioned numerous times it's right on the corner there and the men's annex is on the far side of the street. |

Thank you very much, Chris!
Sadly, Starry Night is NOT there right now because it's on loan somewhere. (It was one of the first things I checked!) Oh well, at least I'll be able to see the Superheroes exhibition thing mentioned in I Believe in Harvey Dent. But I have family out there, so I'm sure I'll be invited back and get to see it another time. (They just don't understand how unbelievably amazing it is to have all of those amazing museums and restaurants and . . . just EVERYTHING there!) |

Well, that trip was interesting. And by interesting I mean "kind of a trainwreck, really". Note to self: certain members of my extended family really belong at Arkham. I should remember that when accepting invitations to travel. Though the trip itself was a mixed bag, there was one unexpected and wonderful Cat Tales-related highlight. CUPCAKES! There I was, pissed as anything that I had been wandering around the city for three hours - all on foot - with somebody who has no sense of direction at all, looking for a restaurant that most likely no longer exists. Hungry, tired, thirsty, and feet aching, I announced that I needed to take a break. NOW. So why don't we take a break and sit in that little park over there (right now - before I kill somebody, which would be in about 30 seconds). I turned around and saw the building behind me. Even in my diminished state, I recognized the name at once - Magnolia Bakery. Magnolia Bakery. Magnolia Bakery - Cat Tales - Demonspawn - Cat Lair - Cupcakes. CUPCAKES. That was quite possibly the most wonderful cupcake in the entire universe. It also gave me the energy to keep from murdering the pigheaded idiot I was traveling with. Were it not for Cat Tales, I never would have known. Don't worry, I'm going back to visit some completely different relatives in August and I'll get to see the more impressive things, both Cat Tales-related and not. I shall also insist on more cupcakes. |
