Thank you very much for posting this, krieseaj.
A couple people did mention this particular strip when it came out, but thanks to your reminder and bringing the permanent link, I can add it to the story page for Pussywhipped. Thank you so much! Funny story, before I go to prop that link. Way back when, when I had more time to be active in these boards, I announced whenever I was going away for a few days, because it was a very informal friendly group--at least it was among those who posted. There were some lurkers with less admirable intentions, and just like if I'd really announced that I was going on vacation and the key was under the mat, I'd expect come back to a stolen stereo, in this case I'd always come back to find someone tried to spam the board with their Catwoman porn or pro-Miller diatribe, expecting it would be several days before it could go unanswered. (I said they had less-than-admirable intentions, I didn't say they were bright or subtle). I naturally stopped announcing before I was going out of town. As I mentioned in my blog, I did just go away for a few days. Imagine the look on my face when I came back to see a new person had posted with the subject line "Frank Miller comic" - and then my delight to see what it was you had to say. I do love Shortpacked, we see eye-to-eye on many things but that isn't the reason I consider them to be the most consistently entertaining webcomic out there. Meow. Oh, and welcome to the forum!

You know, it's a bit ironic that I saw this a couple of weeks ago, because last week, I was flipping through History Channel International and I stumbled
upon this most awesome documentary on the history of comic books in America. Obviously, even at 3am in the morning, it was a must watch. (I think the
official title was Comic Book Heroes Unmasked... it's a few years old, but still not too dated). Lo and behold once they get done explaining the
evolution of Superman they go on to Bats... and to what should my wondering eyes should appear, but F. Miller, and his evil misogynistic take on all things
female.
I have to admit this was the first time I had actually come "Face to face" with Miller... and all I can remember as I sat there was having an "ahh, this is him, the idiot" moment. I also, reflecting on the aforementioned comic in this thread, started to laugh anew. One thing that slightly annoyed me was that when he was explaining what he did to Batman and why, he said he went with the more "cheerful" approach. If what we actually saw was what he considered "cheerful" I shudder to think of what he might consider, well, not so cheerful. I also wanted to kick him when I heard the comments on him and the whole creation of Superman vs. Batman. What an idiot! I think I shall now conclude this rant. ~

Yeah, I know what you mean, having a face to go with the name is... unsettling. As a palette
cleanser, I offer up the two threads where the sorry visage has appeared twice in these boards, both connected to a little game we play called Oracle's
Caption Contest...
"turns out 'pencil dick' was WAAY too generous" and Oracle's Alternate Caption Contest |
