Well yesterday I got home from visiting my aunt for Christmas. My aunt (and my uncle and my three bratty cousins) lives in New Jersey, but pretty close to the
New York border. She took me into the city twice (where my cousin Grace complained bitterly at how touristy I was making them all look by taking so many
pictures. So of course, after pointing out that I was, in fact a tourist, I made sure to take even more pictures because I'm petty like that sometimes.)
I saw Rent and my aunt took me to Cirque du Soleil and we did other stuff.
The third time I went with my 14-year-old cousin, Jack. I had a lovely time at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, but seeing just a little bit of the Lower East Side made it far more clear than words ever could why Selina was so offended about all of that East End business with the Post.
After the Tenement Museum, my cousin Jack got bored and a bit whiny, so I firmly suggested that he take the bus home and I'd catch up later. (Who wants to ride 1 1/2 hours EACH WAY on a bus and then only spend two hours actually in the city?)
Well I saw Jack safely to the bus station, as he had gotten lost two days earlier trying to get to Barnes and Noble despite the fact they've lived in or near New York for all of his life.
Then I went to the Museum of Natural History and saw lots of cool stuff. (I did consider going to the Metropolitan Museum of Art instead, but for a number of reasons I decided to save that for my next visit.)
And so I was walking down 5th Avenue trying to get to American Girl Place one more time before I went home, when I saw a building covered in red. In fact, it looked rather like it was wrapped up like a present. Could it be? Yes, it was Cartier! Not only was it Cartier, but it was Cartier decorated just like it was on December 18th in chapter 4 of Cattitude.
Well obviously I am too much of a Cat Tales fan to miss an opportunity like that - I took a picture! And I'm sure there's not really anybody in real life who would understand why that was so cool (How would I even start to explain? "Well there's this really amazing fanfic series . . .") so that's why I'm posting about it here.
Meanwhile I'm proud of myself for getting around the city all by myself and not getting even a little bit lost. (Hey, I'm from Flint, Michigan. It's not a small town, but it's tiny compared to Gotham!)
And Chris, you really should make a list of important Cat Tales landmarks that can be seen in the real New York City. (My aunt invited me to visit her again for part of the summer.)

The stores expecting to make the most obscene sums will hide their merchandise entirely, turning their windows into elaborate tableaus of artsy, whimsy, or quaint.Cartier outdoes them all; they wrap up their entire building with a big red bow.
They had gift wrapped themselves! How could I resist?
