Cat-Tales or Comics?

Posts: 5 12/19/07 17:26	Here's the thing: I started reading Cat-Tales at around the same time that I picked up my first Batman comics. (You could argue that Cat-Tales gave me more than a little incentive to wander into my first comic book store, in fact.) And recently I've begun posting fanfiction on - where else? - fanfiction.net. The problem here is that since I was introduced to both the Cat-Tales and the "official" universe at once, I can't keep details straight about what came from where, and I don't want to nip off with something that belongs only in the Cat-Tales universe. So...at the top of my list is Hell Month. Is it from Cat-Tales or the comics?

Yeah that's mine too, although the date is taken from a half-remembered Adventures of Batman compilation from the 70s that had Batman making a special project of the ONE night of the anniversary, no crime would be committed on that date again, or maybe it was in that alley on that date. The story used a J-month, either January or June, I don't recall which, and 20-something. So could have been Jan 21 or could have been June 26. I really have no idea. In any case, to the extent that Hell Month is my creation, you're free to use that too.

Posts: 796 12/23/07 10:05	Let's see, a fairly complete listing of original characters All named Iceberg employees: Sly, Raven, Dove, Peahen, Feather, Talon and Crow, etc. as well as Gina, the impossible washroom attendant, are mine. The Catitat preserve and all named cats: Whiskers and Nutmeg, Nirvana, Bytes, Greymalkin, etc. are mine. Except for Ubu, all DEMON minions who have names, with or without apostrophes, are mine: Omar, Ulstarn, Nethal, et al. Moira, Greg "Giggles" Brady, Richard Flay, Mr. & Mrs Ashton-Larraby and Randy-quad, Francois de Poulignac, Anatole, Martin/Hermoine, Giovanni D'Annunzio, Jervis's Aunt Maud, Doris, Miriam Nash, Commissioner Lawrence Muskelli, Nurse Chin, Raoul, Detective Porpora, Mr. Offred, Ramona DeSlice, Derek Drake, Shirumare Sensei, and the Wayne ancestors in the Wayne Family History. The woman Jason Blood has referred to from time to time, Claire, is Dien's creation based on a few panels in a certain comic. She has details on her website, I can't easily look any of it up right now. It MAY also be one of the few details that made it into the Wiki. The two other recurring characters worth mentioning are Dr. Bartholomew and Kittlemeier. I believe there was a Dr. Bartholomew mentioned in Batman the Animated Series, but everything about him other than his last name has pretty much come from me. You may as well consider him an original who is just called Bartholomew as a nod to the cartoon - and particular to character actor Richard Dysart, who voiced him. Dysart played Leland McKenzie in L.A. Law, and that is why our Dr. Bartholomew's first name is Leland. Kittlemeier was created in the short story Neutral Ground. The nature of his shop and services, and the fairly slick way he can manage Bat and Rogue clients alike without taking any nonsense all comes from there. That Kittlemeier didn't really have any personality to speak of, so the accent and all his delightful quirkiness all came from me. That's all that comes to mind. --Chris Dee Power corrupts. Posts: 273 12/23/07 15:38 Gothamite	Although it should be noted that the idea of Kittlemeier, or a Kittlemeier-like character, is one that various people have run with, including the folks at the post. See this for examples. Someone actually made a short film of the original story.
