As crazy as the comic fanboys are, I think that the doll collectors could give them a run for their money. Seriously. Supernonamegirl and I are the SANE ones in the fandom and we're trying to make doll-sized superhero costumes. Trying to figure out how to create little bitty articulated Hawgirl wings out of materials from Jo Ann Fabrics might sound crazy, but a few of the doll collectors I know would get along well with Joker and "Let's kill all the henchmen because it's Thursday!" (Or possibly in their case "Let's kill all the henchmen because they didn't admire my favorite doll enough!")
Ahem. Anyway, I also sell toys on ebay and I have some action figures. I've spent the last few days looking very hard for some specific toys for my 9-year-old brother for Christmas. (Sorry guys - he's not a Batman fan. Sam likes Spider-man.).
So today, as I battled collectors and ebay scalpers to find the shortpacked Shocker action figure for Sam, I thought of a silly question. Can you buy Batman toys and stuff in the Cat Tales universe? In JLAin't, Kyle got the JLA dish set for Third Saturday. More recently, in Riddle Me-Tropolis, Selina gave Clark a Superman teddy bear. I can't see Bruce being okay with the Batman connection if it went through Wayne Enterprises. And it'd be hard to do it through a third party (How would that even work? It's not like you can schedule a meeting and say "Hey, Batman, we'd really like to make a line of toys. Could we work out some kind of licensing agreement?")
The only thing I can think of is if things like that were handled through the League, but if there's some other more amusing explanation, please enlighten me. (Either way I'm pretty sure that some toy designer would be in big trouble if they tried to release the F. Miller/Gotham Post version of Catwoman.)
