Allow me to recommend the best damn gift a Batlovin' fangirl ever received: the brand, spanking new reprint of The ORIGINAL Encyclopedia of COMIC BOOK HEROES, Volume I by Michael L. Fleisher. Published in 1976, it's free of Miller influence, free of his followers, free of those whiffs of certain editors with an agenda. It's just magnificent remnant of an era before the air and the water were polluted. The only drawback isn't really a drawback, it's just work for the writer. There aren't any sort of dictionary/encyclopedia type of guides to show you quickly what page you're on. And it's Batman so the Bs go on forever. That means when you pick up your copy, stop by the office supply store and get yourself a packet of postits.
