Also, there was a Bat-related comic recently in Mother Goose and Grimm, but I don't have a link.

This is a link to an entirely
serious article about a potentially
very problematic (and currently
uncurable?) parasite-based disorder. So I suppose it
oughtn't be funny.

I'm surprised this article *isn't* a joke, but hey,
I found the link via the Hon. Gaiman's blog, so there.
Heck, even if it is a joke, it's still laughable. But the
potential is still there: someone got
paid for writing this!

Heh, what's even better is that there's a
follow up
article.
www.amnews.com/public_htm...ormat=html A-yep. And it proves, quite well, that the person who wrote the response is probably more literate and has better writing skills than she does. It amuses me that regardless of how *wonderfully mild mannered Neil Gaiman is, his snarky side does come out when provoked, and boy is it delicious. *He is so cheery on his blog that sometimes I wonder if something is wrong with him, or what his secret is, probably that he gets paid loads to do what he enjoys. At least I'd be close to as cheery as he is if I got paid as much as he did to do what I enjoy. But then, he's a genius. It is 4:30 on Monday and the deadline was end of business on Friday, but writer begged forgiveness and assured editor he would have he piece on his desk by noon Monday, come ruin or rapture. Then writer went out, ran into her ex who (while she still blames him for all failings of the breakup as well as global warming) is a great lay. She spent the entire weekend shagging and the entire day up until 4:20 sleeping it off. Figure 8 minutes for a shower, and 2 minutes to dry off, bringing us up to that moment of realization at 4:30:00 precisely, MUST turn in article by 5:00 today. Why her editor then runs the thing, pretty much gutting any credibility the publication has? I have to assume that relates to: having waited this long, he/she had to stick SOMETHING in that space and this is all that was available. Not wanting to explain that he stretched the deadline and got online unrunnable garbage... What I can't explain is why anybody bothered responding. I guess it's nice, somebody out there, like this chap from Melbourne FL (which they mention about 4 times) , feels communication is still possible with airheads like this. I guess that's a good thing. I can't help but feel he's wasting his time though. |

Well said Chris. I liken it to one of my co-workers
who still can't understand why I'm STILL roleplaying at
25 years old. In her defense, said co-worker has also
admitted to having little to no imagination whatsoever. A
fact which I think extremely tragic.

That is a shame moreso than missing out on the fun
of comics or roleplay. Imagination is the one thing we
have going for us as a species. The cheetah has speed,
the grisly has strengh, birds fly and cameleons (sp?)
change color. We haven't got much, but we have this one
ability to think beyond sharpening the one little rock
the way our parents did like birds build nests. - Boy
I've drifted way off the "funnies" part
haven't I. Here's hoping Something Positive will bring back the funny.

Thanks! I love the Brobdingnagian Bards. Normally I don't sing in public, haven't since puberty hit and my range shrank, but I've sung a capella the entirety of Fairy Story to a friend (formerly homophobic, cured of the illness when his landlord/roommate came out of the closet) with great glee. Live performances often feature Marc and Andrew duelling to see who can sing (or play) fast enough to trip the other. Forwarded the postcard with the free mp3 to several friends. Y'know, I'll be seeing these guys at the beginning of September, wonder if I can get an autograph.... |

Found another one, too, and this webpage is
hero-related!
www.spoil-sports.com/superheroes.htm The animation is of course so awful it's funny, and the humor is raunchy more often than not. Recommend playing them after arming yourself with a couple of cold ones and a bowl of peanuts from the bar! Kimberly T.

Oh, the things a cat will do to get out of a
collar, let alone off a leash! I can remember my own
Nutmeg just about turning herself inside-out to get out
of her harness and leash, the few times I tried to train
her to accept one. Finally gave it up, of course; she had
-me- trained pretty well...
