Posts: 887 07/02/05 04:09	I discovered today that I hadn't 'payed my fees' for my classes and therefore my classes had been dropped. Until now I've been experiencing the wonders of the fee waiver (which means I get to ignore most of the entire deal, I just register and then show up for class when it happens). Well, since the entire filling out the FAFSA bit got started much later than usual this year (my dad used to be content with doing it for me previously, this time he decided I had to help him do it, which took a longer time than usual, as I don't know lots of finacial stuff about my parents and he made me do the filling out part). Anyways, it seems that the fee waiver thing isn't working for me this year. At least not yet. So I ended up reregistering my classes (only had to be waitlisted on one, so it wasn't too bad), but it's still quite disappointing, and now I have to take money out of my uber savings account (that's saved for the big stuff, it's some investment thingie my dad did) so I can be in school. It's not a huge amount, actually, practically nothing compared to usual college expenses (thank heavens for the community college system), but ICK. I was liking the not paying for tution bit very much... Oh well. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm hoping today will behave, really.

So I set out to achieve that goal. Epistemology 13/20 Sociology 12/20 Social Geography 13/20 Roman History 16/20 Contemporary History 14/20 History of the Low Countries 10/20 Culture philosophy 15/20 Democracy and Society 15/20 I had achieved my goal: I didn't fail any more exams BUT each year we also have to write a paper and unfortunately Paper 9/20 ONE more and I'd have passed BUT NO let's take a breadknife and carve in Igors arm and put some salt on it. ONE frigging point !!! Is that so difficult to give?!? And now I have to not only retake all the exams that I failed, I also have to rewrite my paper which isn't easy considering the fact that it means restarting from the beginning and trying to write an entirely new paper instead of a new version of the old paper. In other words my Summer Holiday is officially screwed up. Posts: 887 07/18/05 08:27	My dad has something serious up his butt. At least that's the way he acts at home. Of course when company is over, he's sickeningly cheery. But otherwise... Bossing people around, giving them chores and then trying to find ways to force that person to do even more work is not going to make someone happy with you. Then going off to spend time on a damn hobby that makes the back yard look ugly? He won't fix up the house. It takes months to get him to fix simple problems. Doing something like finding a place to put excess mattresses is just too much. Fixing the plumbing in my bathroom? No can do. My mom does more plumbing work than my dad. I had to fix the doornob. Oh, and it's not like he had us live in a country where there is no respect for women and then didn't try to protect his wife's or daughters' honor when men molested them with their eyes. Yep, here I would be fully clothed, and it's clear as glass that those guys are having a porno going on in their head. No. He didn't have the balls to tell men not to disrespect his daughters. In a country where the appropiate action is to beat the living crap out of any guy who dare look at a girl that way. Nope. My classmates who treated me like utter shit, like a dumb needy blonde who wanted to give it up for anyone, was more protective of me than he was. Or what about the entire when you have daughters you probably shouldn't walk around in your tightie whities around the house. And I can probably think of other reasons why I can't stand him. But I'm tired. And I really shouldn't have to explain things that should be that obvious to any person. Are all men such assholes? Because I'd really like to believe that I'm wrong. Guy is gettng pissed at me and me at him because he can't make me understand what it is he wants. Fine, we wash our hands of it and walk away. Then they come to me like a month later, stressing because they need a store design really fast, and after several frustrating rounds of them talking about what they need, still not making all that much sense, I ask what was wrong with what I gave them LAST TIME! "Uh, can you show us that again?" Fine, few tweaks here and there, and I send it off to them, and I think we're done. Now the fucker STILL isn't launched, and they call again for me to see if I can make up something for the frontpage (I gave them a nice frontpage last time) - I look to see what they've got and THEY'VE FUCKED UP THE DESIGN AGAIN - GODAWFUL HIDEOUS BANNER THAT'S OVER 100K, wrong color here, wrong font there, bad scrollbars, you name it, they fucked it up. So I AGAIN went back to the original, perfectly usable design and reassembled something workable. NOW I just need to step on somebody's testacles, because I need to focus their attention on a few conditions of this last, final save - specifically the part where it is the LAST and FINAL save - and since communication doesn't seem to be happening up until this point, I think it's time to place a nice designer heel (that I was able to buy thanks to DC's marathon exercise in how to mess up a perfectly good comicbook) on somebody's scrotum and Riverdance !

Posts: 823 07/27/05 11:38	Ok I'm going to try this...really I am. Backstory...Hubby's FAVORITE cousin, Lon, got marrried in Jamaica on July 1st. Since no one could go to the wedding they decided to hold a small reception at their home on the 23rd of this month. Now, He lives in Charleston, SC.....Hubby and I live in NE Ohio...741 mile trip one way at BEST. Anyways, We're going cause he went to OUR wedding. He invites us, Hubby's parents, hubby's sister (who has NOTHING to do with the family at all), but not hubby's brother (who acctually might have gone). Also, His mother and step father and sister and her children. There may have been more, but that's all I'm aware of. So, out of all of us, it's going to be me and James, Aunt L. and her hubby, and Lannie and her two children that are going down. His mom's coming from eastern Ohio (11hours) and Lannie's coming from Tennessee, had to clear the trip with three doctors and get a portable oxygen refiller thing (she's on oxygen, long story) ( also 11 hours on the road) Lannie gets there first, on Thurs. Checks into their hotel....Oh, BTW...Lon HAS a perfectly good EMPTY house since he moved into wife's house. (just put it on the market) but NONE of us could stay there....Go figure THAT one out. He blows Lannie off Thurs night and doesn't even see her. Friday His Mom and step dad get in around 6ish...We're still on the road at this time. He does manage to swing over to say hi and bye and "oh by the way, I'm going out to eat with Char and some of her friends...I'll be out late tonight." Now....when we decided to leave early on Fri. It was under the thougth (that James and Lon had already discused weeks ago) that we would get in, grab a bit to eat, then head over to Lon's new place for a few hours. That was what was decided. So....Moving forward to 7pm...We've been on the road for 12 and 1/2 hours and get stuck in traffic less than an hour from our destination. I call up Lon on the cell to let him know where we are. He is en route to dinner with Char, he says. Call us back later, he says. Now, we're pissed. He told James they COULDN"T go out to eat with us that night cause of everyone coming in that day. Had we eaten?? NO! Could they have waited??? (Course we didn't know he was out w/ friends at this time, either) So, anyways we finally get in....Hotel that Lon picked for us, sucked, but at least everything worked. James called Lon at 8:10 and got kicked right to his voice mail. (IE phone turned off) never called us back. James called his mom to get his Aunt's Cell number, we went over to their hotel (where all five peeps were staying in one room, cause they couldn't afford two) That's when we found out from A. Linda that "He was out with friends and wouldn't be back til LATE that night" We got MORE pissed. We could have slept in and gotten in at any time Friday if that was the case. Why lie to us? Mislead us? SO we get back to our hotel and get pizza and wings...boring...sleep....yadda yadda. Oh, God....just saw how long this thing is.....and I still have 90% of the Crap to post. I mean, my guyfriend flakes, has stupid excuses for his flaking, and doesn't call when he says he will, but he hasn't done that yet... In fact he did both the stupid excuse and didn't call when he said he would today, but I figure he's losing out (doesn't get to hang out with a hot girl and tell her about his adventures, drink authentic Indian chai (extremely good), in an authentic central asian tea house setting and get a really good present (Catwoman: When in Rome #6) for an early birthday present). So unless he offers me orchids, begs and pleads, etc, I'm going to give it to someone else. But the cousin... DAMN. "Oh don't worry," a mate of mine said, "they're only MP5s" This friend is a air-softer - in other words, someone who plays with pellet guns. But these fucking things were real. And yes, I can see their necessity in the current climate, but... fuck me, I was scared. Please bare in mind also my American friends that, as a rule, British police people are not armed with guns. Add to that that some guy who got shot in the head for resisting arrest on the tube turned out to be the WRONG GUY... These are not happy times.

Myk finally had enough energy at the same time as not having had too much to do with computer issues lately that he finally put the DVD player/burner into my computer that he'd gotten me for X-mas. (The time thing is NOT the issue here - that's not an issue at all in fact.) That got put in swimmingly, and certain other peripherals got removed. He'd just gotten a new video card handed down to him from a friend, and so his old one had the potential to go into my machine. We debated the issue and decided that it'd really be more trouble than effort - it's not that much better a video card. And I go to load the DVD trial of EQII (thus the impetus to put the DVD player into my machine)... and it tells me I need a better video card. And in fact, we know it'd work on Myk's old video card, because it DID work on that card. facepalm Ah well, eventually the cards will be switched out. Note: I have the ability to do these things myself, just not the confidence in my ability. I know fuck is a bad word, but you're fucking making me say it! ~Denis Leary

Posts: 133 08/03/05 14:47 Harley Quinn	Its come to my attention that this coming weekend, while hopefully fun and interesting, will be missing one very important thing- time to sleep. I'm attending the Blacksun Festival in New Haven Connecticut, a three day event with some of the finest in goth underground music. There will also be a fashion show on saturday (which I'll be working), and a picnic in front of a castle sunday afternoon hosted by Voltaire. Now, dont' get me wrong, I'm excited and overjoyed to be going... but I don't know how I'm going to function. Friday I have work, which means getting up at 6:30am (an unnatural task for any college student, let me assure you). As soon as I escape the grasp of the office I'll be meeting my buddy Beth and heading right up to CT. I'd planned on doing artificial braid extensions, which means I'll have to do them in the car if I want them for Friday. Once we get there we're going to the venue, finding the lady in charge of the fashion show to get our laminent passes, and enjoying the music. The only snag is that the last show is Razed in Black, which both of us refuse to miss. It starts at 12:15am. Currenly my sleep cycle runs the "go to bed at 10:30 and get up at 6:30" routine. As of late, no matter where I am, I'm unconsious by midnight. Saturday I have to be at the runthrough for the fashion show at 10am. Mind you though, from where we're staying its 20 minutes away, and I need a full hour to be presentable. That means I'll be getting up around... oh... 8:30am. On the one day of the week I'm accustomed to sleeping in. Blast. After the runthrough we have to set up for the actual show, which starts around 4:00. After its over, the music starts promptly with the best lineup of the weekend. The show includes Carfax Abbey, Bella Morte, and Das Ich to name a few. Again, the last show (Das Ich) will be going on stage around 12:15am. Sunday? At least that day will be a little lighter on us. The picnic starts at 2:00 (but we do have to find it first) and ends at 4:30. After that its right back to New Jersey, where I plan on crashing until 6:30am Monday, when I begin the work cycle once more. I'm so eager for this weekend, but how crazed its going to be really dissapoints me. I still have a LOT of sewing to do for myself and Beth- I decided to get fancy and make her an outfit, and three for myself. I'm nearly done but I have a lot of touchup work that I have to finish by Thursday night. I just hope I'm not too exhausted to enjoy everything. With some luck Starbucks will be right next door to both Beth's brother's house (where we're crashing) and the venue.

Okay 1st: you're still in college, so sleep is optional where a good party is concerned. But -I don't believe I'm doling out advice on this- if you've any experience with yoga or meditation, you can, short term, get a sort of power-nap in little 5-15 minute snippets by, essentially, telling yourself you're going to, and then just relaxing, clearing your mind, and letting your brain and body do their thing.

So, I'd need some super strong earplugs. Even with the nosie under control the only place that most places have free to sit winds up being the floor- and thats only if you want to risk being trampled. I can fall asleep most anywhere if I'm tired enough, but I don't think I'll have a chance to. It'd be impossible to focus. I've been doing meditations for a looooooong time now, but I don't think even I will be able to clear my mind in the insanity of this festival. Ah well, hopefully I can ignore the lack of sleep and enjoy it anyway.

Today's rant: Somewhere in this area, there exists a person to whom I owe several punchings. The no-kill shelters are full, our vet's already trying to place two abandoned cats ... we can't afford it, we have three human adults and two dogs and two cats already and our last boarding bill was $500, but with every passing half-hour it becomes even more certain that we're keeping the boy. So now we're going to have to start including in our vacation preparations the job of finding someone who can come into our house every day and take care of the Boys (all feline) while the Girls (all canine) are boarded professionally. I'm just not comfortable with someone else -- even someone we've known for years -- coming into our house while we're gone. Surprisingly, Burchie is taking this the best of the four-footed household members. Marco the Rescue Kitty is mad at everybody, except 1st Husband. I watch animals for a number of people from my church, as well as friends and family. Ads in the newpaper or online might be a worthwhile thing too. Are you on myspace? You can post bulletins and leave messages on boards. There are plenty of animal lovers out there, its just a matter of finding one in your area who you feel you can trust.
