I work on sundays and today I was feeling
particularly miserable and I had cramps (and it was worse
than usual, I was nauseated and kinda feverish too, I was
starting to worry, actually). I thought it was going to
be dreadful, yet somehow it didn't. My co-workers were
really nice, and I was able to get all the post serving
work done quickly, and because they're going to spray for
bugs, we didn't have to do any resetting and some other
chores. And then my boss was all happy with how I was
working, and I wasn't the last person out the door, and
wow. Work didn't suck. Amazing.

I dont wanna say this too loudly, and I'm knocking
fervently on wood, but I played badminton earlier and I
was fairly good and my arm didn't hurt... *knocks on
wood*
NEXT AM UPDATE: And it doesn't hurt much this morning! YAY! Of course, the rest of my body aches, but hey - who cares! Also, I managed to recite from memory the first 18 lines of The General Prologue of The Canterbury Tales in ye olde English for my seminar today! YAY! |

I took my 3-year-old daughter trick-or-treating
last night; her first such outing. She wore an
off-the-rack winged-unicorn costume, and looked pretty
goshdarned cute in it if I do say so myself. It was
pouring down rain, but I got an umbrella and held it over
her while we cruised the nieghborhood, so even while I
got soaked she stayed relatively dry. At roughly half the
houses, instead of saying "Twick or
tweat!" she just held up her bag and said
hopefully, "Candy?"
Why is this under Small Victories? Because (a) she had fun even though it was pouring down rain, (b) with a bit of prompting she always said "Thank you" for every treat, and (c) she DIDN'T gorge herself sick on candy when we finally returned home! Two lollipops and a hot bath, and she was off to bed without a complaint! My kid's so good sometimes it's astonishing... Kimberly T.

Last year we planned for a week, got the yard set
up after several hours' work, and got about ten kids in
total. Maybe less. So this year was in serious danger of
being the Last Hurrah.
We ran out of candy. Twice! Next year we need to be better prepared to terrify the SNOT out of one pair of young teen boys who came back three times and took double handfuls of candy each time. I feel that on the second trip, they owe us. Also next year, we might put the candy in a vat full of glow-in-the-dark jelly, so their little hands will give them away. But we must've had fifty kids! :D |

A friend of mine who wants to do a movie approached
me to see if I had any stories to tell. I told him that I
have two that are at the forefront. He then asked me to
put it to paper so that we could make a movie of
it.

That ebay purchase from mid-October came afterall.
Badly delayed, as int'l mail is won't to do. Doesn't make
the seller's attitude any better, but still, got my
burner.
And, I made a decision to dump this upholsterer who's been one problem after another for months. HUGE weight off my shoulders. Now I'm just going to get someone COMPETENT who I can COMMUNICATE WITH, through a decorator referal. Woot. |

After only five days of meds....I'm breathing SO
much easier and have had more energy than I've had in
over a year!
Also, I've been able to start working out and have dropped 6 pounds in a week (It's amazing what cutting back on junk food will do....still eating the same amount! ) Kendra ********* You have the right to remain silent, so shut the f--- up! I did a presentation earlier that's been hanging
over my head for ages now, and it actually went pretty
well! The notoriously hard-ass seminar leader actually
quite liked it!
I'm falling ill with something - probably my body allowing itself to shut down after the tension of getting the sodding presentation written - and I've got an essay to write before illness hits me too hard, but I don't care. I'm going home this weekend, and the presentation went fairly well. That my friends is a small victory. |

Still waiting on any number of other items, but hey, gotta look on the bright side in this world. The guy at the mailbox place is very nice, knows comics and everything. |

Massive amounts of stuffing made?* Check.
Intermediary kitchen cleaning? Check. Mail? Check. Make brine.... well, gotta take a break at some point but so far, so good. *Why so much? Because it's for a party at a soundstage and I have no idea how many people work there but half of them are stage technicians which is a technical theatre term for locusts. |

To steal Chris' theme slightly - played my first
badminton match of the season yday! WHOO!
Slight rant - we got beat 8-0 in a shitty little sports hall with only one court that meant the match lasted 5 hours... but still all good! |

Re: Small Victory | #60 | ||

I had a good week and an especially good day
yesterday.
On Monday the biggest Student's Club, Unifac, organized a quiz. Our student's club, which is kinda considered as the little brother or sister of Unifac, entered with two groups of 5 people. I headed the second group, the other one was headed by our praeses/president. My group scored better than the other group and the people in my group widely acknowledged it was thanks to me because "damn boy, you know a lot!". On Tuesday, we had a movienight (Crash, Monty Python and the Holy Grail) and afterwards I went to a cocktailparty. I entered the bar and I was welcomed with open arms by people I only know slightly. Wednesday, Thursday, nothing special happened, nothing bad happened. Yesterday, I had Political and Institutional History of the Ancien Regime where we discussed two chapters on the Declinación of Spain in the 17th century. Suffice it to say, the point which I was valliantly defending, even going so far as using a theory of a historian we saw in early lessons, was the same point as the professor was leaning toward. And no, this is a smart, intelligent professor. And later that day, another professor conceded that I was right. So I was whistling and humming "Oklahoma" yesterday, all day. Yes, I'm a geek, allow me my geeky pleasures such as people acknowledging that I'm in fact quite intelligent. Eendracht maakt
