We're here. We've moved house. We've moved a
thousand kilometers from Sydney to Tasmania, and I cant
get past the fact that we actually did it instead of
planning it.

The exams are finished. Yay. And they seemed to go
well. To quote the prof: "I can see you were
able to revise your notes five
times."

That's terrific, Igor! Meanwhile I've got the
camera working on the new phone. Unfortunately, Cashmere
declined to participate in the inaugural photo, so
instead we have Selina's curio cabinet:

I finally got my grant check in the mail which
means I'm finally going to be able to get the last
required bits of school supplies that I've been badly
needing but unable to get. And be able to get gas. I need
to drive, so having more money for gas is always
good.

Get in!
Well done, Kim. I know she's also come back from career threatening injury, and she also seems like a nice lass (much nicer than the gamesmanship loving Mary Pierce [no relation]) so very well done to her. |

To continue the sports related joy...
I played badminton against my friend earlier, 4 truly brutal games of singles which I am by no means fit enough for (I'm a good doubles player, but singles requires a lot more running) where we really pushed each other to the limit in every point. We both played really well, and he scraped it 3-1 (these are four games to 15 btw!) but it could probably have gone either way. I really don't care about losing though because I played better than I have in a while and also, more importantly, because I felt really alive whilst playing. A tremendous feeling. OK, so now I can barely stand up I'm so tired, but the point still stands! Oh - and england won The Ashes from those pesky Ozzies in the cricket! Hurrah! |

Bringing the sports joy back across the pond, my
beloved Chiefs absolutely lambasted the Jets yesterday,
the defence holding New York to a shut out up until the
last minute of the game. It truly warmed my heart to see
the D back to the old ways of Derrick Thomas, Neil Smith,
and Derron Cherry. Well done boys.
To further add to my joy, Oakland, San Diego, and Denver all lost their opening games. So, for at least a brief and shining moment, Kansas City is on top of the AFC West! Of course, we have two road games immediately coming up, one in Oakland and the other in Denver, before immediately comig home and hosting Philly. The schedule makers definitely didn't do us any favors this year. When does a cat

Fubar'd schedule for the week did not prevent
prompt chapter posting, A-HA! Take that!

The Raiders didn't look too promising against the
pats, imho. I think you could maybe get a result there.
(Not that I know the first thing about football, but
still!)
Nice one on the chapter, Miss Dee. I'm sure it's another corker. |

Well, Day one (er, Night one) of the Korean
timezone project wasn't quite as bad as it might have
been. Done at 10 rather than 2:30. 1 down, 4 to go. Now
to read reviews before... um *checks clock* Before lunch
and BED.
1 down, 4 to go. 1 down, 4 to go. 1 down, 4 to go. Edit: Day two. I almost recanted my small victory yesterday with a rant, because that "lunch and bed" above never happened. Instead I nearly got roped into going out schmoozing last night, and did wind up out running errands none of which got done because key people weren't there. I was also intensely irritable from sleep deprivation. but the good news is I got through it, and now nearly done with Day Two, so we're halfway there (I think). 2 down, 2 to go. Harvey where are you? You're buying me something cold and frothy! 2 down, 2 to go. 2 down, 2 to go. 2 down, 2 to go. |

I can't explain it. I tried, but I'm getting all
baroque. So I'll just sum up: I'm celebrating as a
victory, even though declaring it such
now is probably premature, a recent
epiphany on the part of someone else. No "boom"
today.

When I went to see the professor of Politics and
Institutions 1789-1945 last week about a thesis-subject I
wanted to research, he told me another student already
had chosen that subject. The student in question is also
the one guy I utterly despise because of his neo-nazistic
views, so any chance of trying to talk him out of chosing
that subject was zero.
Luckily he decided to research the "Flemish Movement" and I was free to research "the Belgian delegation at the Paris Peace Conference 1919-1920" (yes I know I'm a geek ) MARKS, Sally, Innocent Abroad: Belgium at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919, North Carolina, 1981. There's a minor difference between "Belgian delegation" and "Belgium", the delegation are the people and it's them I'm going to research but this book will certainly be my leading lady. Another Chiefs post, they went into Miami on only
24 hours notice to play tonight in order to beat
Hurricane Wilma's landfall. Flew in this afternoon,
played on only four days' rest and beat 'em
30-20.
