Wow really great chap. I was really wondering what
would happen to Eddie after the broken legs.
HAHA pizza pot pie, i think i saw that whole bit about the gangster getting shot and the heart killer sandwiches/pizzas on the food network. Ozzy clean freak? hmm... someone should check his hat... just in case Jervis didn't feel like paying his bar tab ooo nice cliff hanger about Selina can't say i can makes heads or tails of that. Speaking of "fate" Eddie should know better than take signs of fate as a course of action. I mean he's been around Harvey enough to know that nothing good comes out of it. Which brings up the fatal flaw in Eddie's debut. Superman has been known to work with Batman when capturing Rogues... I guess he's betting on Superman being able to stop Bruce from breaking his legs again. :P Keep up the great work! ---- TAG: FIRST! |

Hrrm... I do agree to an extent about Ozwald's
sudden nesting urge, though I'm not the type to instantly
ascribe it to another rogue's ulterior motifs.
As to Eddy, the big problem is that he just doesnt get that Metropolis doesnt quite work that way. Lessee, the big M is roughly equivalent to rl Chicago, innit? "I was an Otaku before those kids
came along and changed the meaning of the
word."

Coffee and cigars at the same time? ouch. You are
an evil woman.
Poor Perry. Ah well it will be good for him. Love the interactions of the house of Kent. You can take the boy out of the country .... Poor Bruce he has sooo lost the advantage. There is no way that He and Selina are ever going to have any thing but girls. As to the putative main character of this jaunt, can't wait to see what he decides to do with metropolis. |

Answering Star, the CT Metropolis definitely is Chicago. I don't think the DCU's Met was ever meant to be, but that's a discussion for another place. I was decidedly won over by the story of the Gothamite who isn't quite on the same wavelength as this new city. Quote: As the native Chicagoan (who lives in Northern California, natch,) I'll be playing tour guide-slash-Metropolis-to-Chicago translator for those with an interest in the RL city. We'll start with the museums. Chicago can't compete with the sheer number of museums Gotham has, but what it did instead was to create a small number of huge, high-quality publicly-funded museums. Chris references two, the Museum of Science and Industry and the Adler Planetarium (the latter's name altered by Chris.) While I'd argue that the Chicago Tribune lacks the (admittedly fictional) reputation for journalistic excellence the Daily Planet has (the Sun-Times was a better paper before it was purchased and subsequently ruined by Rupert Murdoch). I'm not a crossword buff of Nigma's stature, but it's fair to say the Trib's puzzle isn't as hard as the Times'. Whatever the merits of the paper that comes out of it, the Tribune Building is a very cool gothic structure with nice little touches you can see in the link. There's only one building, and Richard Sears probably wouldn't appreciate the comparison, but the 103-story LexCorp Tower is, of course, the Sears Tower. In it's own way, it too is a monument to corporate idiocy. It was built in the belief that the company's growth (which had accelerated in the 60's) would continue to increase. It's actually compose of nine towers with 75' x 75' footprints arranged three-by-three, two of which reach up to the full 1800-odd feet. For nearly a decade after opening, it was half-empty. It was sold in the 90s, but Sears has retained the rights to the building's name. For twelve bucks you can visit the Skydeck, riding an express elevator that goes up the 103 stories in 45 seconds. You will, of course, have to run a gift-shop gauntlet on your way out. The Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinder puts out a pizza unique even by Chicago standards: ![]() It's not exactly your classic Chicago-style stuffed pizza, (though about three blocks north of that, there's a great place called My Pie that I've eaten at since childhood,) but it's just right for a city that demands both quality and quantity in its food. And yes, it puts the history of the building (including it's proximity to the St. Valentine's Day Massacre) on its menus and on its website. |

In addition to what Nathan said, Giordano's is also known for it's pizza, and everyone
I knew when I lived in Chi-town thought it was the
best.
FWIW, the best part of Chicago I thought was the great italian beef sandwiches by a local chain called Buona Beef. The first thing I had to eat there was an italian beef sandwich from there, and when I moved away a few months later, it was the last thing I had to eat there. In fact it's really the only thing I miss about Chicago. "Here's to
crime!"

Riddle | #6 | ||

Great chapter. Personally, I assumed that with
Riddler moving to Metropolis, he'd focus on the riddle of
PA WISH MORE SUN?
Of course, after finding out in a very anticlimactic way that MENSA BRAT WIN A Y-CUBE, he may be subconciously advoiding trying to solve the riddle to prevent being let down. It's interesting that O SLIME PORT would feature so much information on Superman's powers and how to defeat him. Sort of like going to Count Dracula's castle and finding a stake-sharpening booth on the ground floor. Of course, now I'm curious what Nygma's riddle about the phantom zone will be, and if Superman will bring it to Batman's attention? Will Nygma announce that "HOST PIN TALE ON MAZE"? Or something much more elaborate, involving Clark Kent's book? ME WIN A ROT! (I want more!) (Key to others: Who is Superman, Bruce Wayne is Batman, Metropolis, I Steal Phantom Zone) |

Oh, so many questions (Eddie could relate, no
doubt). Where to start?
So Perry's trying to quit both coffee and cigars? Good luck: from what I've seen and heard, trying to kick either habit is a challenge, never mind both of them. One wonders whether he's on a nicotine patch? Clark, Clark, Clark...enjoying Alfred's cooking a little too much, are we? Guess that Kryptonian physiology is no match for Earth cooking. One wonders whether he'd need to have to work it off, and how a Kryptonian would do so. Super-fast jogging, perhaps? What I find especially curious is the simultaneous change in the behaviour of Penguin and Catwoman. Suddenly turning into a neat freak does not sound normal for Oswald, and expressing a willingness to use expensive vodka as a cleaning aid is definitely off. As for Selina, after helping Bruce through the emotional tornado of 00000-001, and getting even closer to him, the last thing I was expecting was for her to go off and rob a bank--something she was reluctant to do even when they were just beginning a relationship. And for her to be so giddy about it...something's off. Too soon to say if Jervis, Pammy or some other foolish individual is mucking about in the waters, but something is definitely off. Eddie seems to have found a remarkable turn of fortune in Metropolis. However, there also seems to be a distressing...something about the denizens of Metropolis. Not getting the huge question mark ad as a possibility that the Riddler is in town is one thing...but proudly advertising the strengths or weaknesses of Superman is just asking for any villain to take the Man of Steel down, or at least cause a lot of trouble (then again, the fact that Superman's still alive and kicking despite all these hints suggests one of two things: either those hints aren't really a treasure trove, or Superman's equivalent of the "Rogues' Gallery" aren't that competent after all). I wonder if someone of Eddie's intellect may find the potential boredom of Metropolis's citizens to outweigh the risk of getting his legs broken in Gotham. One last thing to NathanPerry, Abaddon, and anyone else with similar insights: keep the Metropolis-Chicago comparisons coming. This is the kind of thing one can't get from simply reading Cat-Tales. Looking forward to chapter 2! |

behaviour changes in Penguin, Perry and Catwoman. There
should be some sinister music playing in the background

@Random Equinox:I'm fairly sure she's talking about
a copycat. (Haha, copycat.)
And for the Picasso's being stolen, I get a kick out of the finesse in which it must have been done, but. But they seems like personal paintings. Paintings made for the family. While all art is bound to be personal on some level, stealing Picasso's family paintings seems like such disrespect to the late artist. But then as an artist, I have some bias here. I'm pretty sure I would cuss someone out if they damaged one of my artworks. Or be very pissed if someone stole an artwork that was a gift to a family member or friend. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm hoping today will behave, really. |

Re: Cat-Tale 51: Riddle Me-Tropolis | #13 | ||

Okay, first thing's first.
AAARRRGH!!! I had just finished writing a 500-word review when my internet connection timed out! I lost all of it! All of it!!! *sobs* Okay... What do I remember? Firstly - Harley. I really do think that fear of Joker's displeasure is the only thing that keeps the Rogues from killing her. If she can even get Eddie wanting to lose brain function! And on to the story: A new land and a new life with new opportunities, right Eddie? I loved the opening of this chapter with all of his impressions of Metropolis. It was interesting to see the thinking and feelings of this particular Rogue; what he looks for in a lair or in a theme crime. I also agree with him that it is odd that Superman has permitted so much information about his weaknessses to come out. Of course, Superman's "man of the people" reputation is as much of a protection to him as Batman's "urban legend" mystique. And, after all, leaving his most obvious weaknesses spelt out in 30-foot letters of fire probably stops him from having to face any... surprises. Most villains would gravitate to the obvious. SPOILER So, Selina is happy, is she? Extra happy? Maybe hormonal at the same time? I think that Bruce should be afraid. Very afraid. *Keeps reading* What is this? I, personally, think that Bruce is going to be on a three Tynol headache by the time Selina has finished explaining this one. By the way, I'm still laughing about her "Tra-la-la-ing" in the Batcave. SPOILER ENDS So! Someone has turned Ozzie into Adrian Monk? Well, the guys and dolls at the Iceberg are probably in for an interesting week or so. Of course, Chris doesn't do 'irrelevant', so it will be interesting to see where this is going. Quote: Ah, Eddie! Still got that question mark fetish, I see. SPOILER You just have to love the ego completely and explicitly exposed in this quote: Quote: You know, Eddie, it takes more than an office to be Superman's arch-foe. It usually take the ability to flatten a city with one punch. SPOILER ENDS Gosh! What have they done to Perry? I'm not sure how long a reporter of his seniority could manage under those circumstances! One last SPOILER Quote: Poor Eddie. What is the bet that his whole part of this story will be all about his inability to even get noticed? SPOILER ENDS One last thought: Eddie, if one plays with fire, one is certain to get burnt. And you are planning to juggle a hot, hot fire indeed. Be sure you know what you are doing! This is an intriguing enough beginning with plenty of hooks to keep you reading. Not the most brilliant start but doing more than enough to keep the readers (like me) coming back for more. BenRG's Rating: 8/10 ~*~*~*~ They call me BenRG But... I don't know why... ~*~*~*~ |

Actually, I did my basic training for the navy at Great Lakes RTC, and as it happens I did get a chance to check out the Museum of Science and Industry. about the only thing I really saw in Chicago, but still... Typical causes for a sudden onset of compulsive
cleaning:
* pregnancy Uh, well, in Oswald's case, I sure hope not. * minor fears turning into an obsession or compulsion Crane? Or has Ozzie been watching "Monk"? * superstition This can actually lead back into OCD, so again: lay off the tv, Pengie dear. * guilty conscience I'd buy this, if we knew he was feeling guilty about anything. * impending visits from relatives How ,i>is Aunt Maud these days, anyway? I'm almost afraid to ask. * impending date Err ... |

Actually, I'm leaning more towards the impending
date, or at least a visit from someone he wants to
impress, as the reason behind Oswald's behavior. When
these characters start acting strange, it doesn't HAVE to
be mindcontrol. They are naturally strange and quirky on
their own.
Likewise, I suspect that Catwoman robbing a bank is another Gotham Post special production. I think Selina likes her reputation as a thief, and is pleased by stories that spread it even if she has stopped stealing, provided they involve "Catworthy" targets. |
