Eh, I know some fanfics that take half a year to update, and others that haven't updated in years. So, in comparison, a couple months isn't too bad. Besides, real life can really put a cramp on things.

Jenna seemed to be the major focal point of this chapter, even managing to put Harley and her still-creepy alternate Joker personality on the sidelines. Jenna comes out as even more of a sad and obsessive groupie than we may have realized, going to any lengths for a shallow...

Great chapter. I love the fact that you didn't let Ivy get away with treating her body so horribly, and the effects it had. Also, great ending that goes in line with the way things had been setting up.

I commented privately but it is worth repeating here that I think this chapter and Defying Sanity are among Allaine's best writing to date. I mean that literally. The writing just flows along effortlessly, and I found I had reached the end far too soon.

Well, okay, that time it took a month. I think we shouldn't look at this as, "It took him longer than the last chapter did", but rather "It still was a lot quicker than Chapter, say, Nine". I'm extremely pleased with this one, and I hope you will be too. As always, it can be found at both FFN and right here at Chris' site.

One of the main reasons I enjoy AUs so much is that they illustrate the consequences that could occur if a different choice was made or a different factor was (or was not) in play. As readers may recall, mainstream Penguin refused to give King Snake the secret of the "Flehmen" trigger because he regarded him as one of his competitors. It is therefore fitting that, with Penguin incapacitated, King Snake becomes Hugo's patron.

Well, your eyes aren't lying to you, folks. I'm hoping to maintain this pace, although Christmas could interfere with that (and another Harley/Ivy fic I'm working on for the holiday).

So many characters are being faced with change in this chapter. I could go in depth about how Talia's a perfect example, but it basically boils down to "things are changing, and she doesn't know what to do". Let's move on to more interesting characters:

As much as Batman would hate to admit it, Joker's death has changed things (for the better). As Selina noted, he wouldn't even think of "rewarding" her for putting up with all the crap...
