Interesting points made in the strip SteelBlaidd recommended. 'Heroes' as a purely good thing are somewhat out-of-fashion nowadays. Why else would they normally only ever appear in something like Nickalodeon or the Disney Channel? I blame 'The Dark Knight Returns' myself and 'Watchmen' to a lesser extent (although Mr. Moore's magnum opus has far more nuance and thoughtful exploration of the nature of heriosm that Miller could ever manage).

Welcome Glitch, and thank you for all the kind words. You're quite right, things could have been so much worse for Tim. He's just not a glass-half-full kind of guy. Now that I think about it, the only one in the Bat Family that really falls into that category is Babs.

Hello, new board member, but long time reader. Finally got around to posting. I just wish to thank you Chris, for making Batman entertaining again. Although he's not my favorite DC character (Sorry, that goes to Kyle Rayner, much maligned soul he is) even a casual fan like I have had a LOT of trouble recognizing the qualities I enjoyed when I read the titles. Don't get me started on my reading the 'Blackest Night' tie-ins. That faint sound as if someone screaming...

Like others here, I too would like to know what happened when Selina and Alfred first met. But to put the icing on the cake, may I suggest that you have Alfred describe the encounter in a retrospective excerpt "From the Journal of Alfred Pennyworth." You have gotten right inside Alfred's deep British reserve to the depths within and his first reactions to the free spirits of Selena would be something to treasure.

Nice story. Two questions: I don't read the post so I may be ignorant of a detail: where did Ras find out Robin's secret identity? And if he did find out, why do Bruce, Selina and Tim think they can successfully plant Tim among the scientists?

A lovely, cinematic last chapter, Chris. This story, although far from the top drawer, was well-written and engaging throughout. If I had a beef, I would have left the "Tim's Troubles" subplot out as the story was already pretty packed with narrative threads and it wasn't strictly needed for the character of Dr. Meadows to work.

As always, the characterisations in this story are superb. You have a real handle on all of the major characters and really bring...

This was a great story. We got to see Batman deal with an environment he isn't used to. We also got to see Selina acting more like a crime fighter (of course we can't tell her that). And best of all Ras is finally getting his comeuppance.

Tim's new class on Superheroes should be interesting. I would find it funny if it ends up being nothing like he expected and ends up failing the class as a result. There's nothing more humiliating than a superhero failing a college...

Loved the chapter and the chess analogies, even a little hint of Eddie! I was reading another story some where where they made link that the King wasn't really supposed to represent the leader but the children they were trying to protect.

OMG Tim NOOOOOOOOOO. Don't take sociology, too many flash backs for me when i was in college and my sociology major friends trying to analyzing all of my actions in the context of the bigger picture. :p

I actually find myself hoping we'll see some of these DEMONs again at some point. It's nice to see all that "classroom" indoctrination only goes so far before "the real world" gives a reality check. And it's nice to see that some of them have their little pet peeves as well. Hm'cra and his cynicism over how easily the Bat and his agents escape and...

A little suprised how much you wrapped up inone chapter, but loved the ending, and the fact that Selina enjoyed Al's defeat so much. Tim's new course sounds very interesting; with lots of ways for Selina to poke Bruce under the guise of 'Helping Tim with his homework'. Ooh, and if Cassandra got involved...
