I just heard that Disney is buying Marvel Entertainment. Now, superficially, the biggest blow falls on Universal theme parks, Disney's biggest competitor in the "Pay $100 to stand in line in the sweltering sun" business, who have a quarter park full of attractions that are all Marvel themed. (Six Flags is in dire financial straits, so maybe they can pick up the theme park licenses for DC characters and do some creative re-theming.)

To the surprise of nobody, the DC/Marvel faithful wrote it off on the various comic book message boards as "petulant," "whiny," "out of touch," "bitter," and answered the article with the assertion that today's audience is "too sophisticated and cool" for what Dixon's advocating.

If I redesigned Batman, I wouldn't exactly redesign him. I would revamp him. I would find the perfect story to do this in and I would attempt to correct errors made along the way as well as make the costume do the work better.I would take disadvantages of the old costume and make them into advantages.

So I was talking to my sister earlier about various things Batman-related. Though she's never been a comics fan, she saw Dark Knight and was very much impressed and we watched some of the animated series together. She wants to be Harley Quinn for Halloween and her best friend is going to be Ivy. Said best friend's boyfriend was going to be Bane, but I convinced them all that TwoFace made more sense to accompany Poison Ivy. (And involved a far less stupid costume.) Anyway:

I recently saw 'Dark Knight' and a throw-away line in the movie made me think they might have Catwoman in the third movie. My brain then began trying to think of what Selina would be like if they revamped her, like they did Batman / The batsuit / The Batmobile/Tumbler/Batpod.

My thoughts:

Batman: Gotham Knight

I didn't see a dedicated thread for this, so I thought I would start one. It officially came out today on DVD and Blu-Ray and features some famed Japanese animators and much of the Batman: TAS crew such as Bruce Timm and Kevin Conroy. I purchased it on Blu-Ray, and I was impressed. I'll be back with more once I gather my thoughts.

Anyone else interested or planning to see it?
